Default My REVO 3.3 makes a weird sound....

Hey all,
I got my truck broken-in and it runs great,But for some reason when Im slowing down after stomping on it and come to a stop my truck sounds like Chewbacca from star wars....Whats up with that?Im going to try and record it so I can play it for you guys but untill then its kinda funny sounding.THe idle may be a bit off because it revs up and down a little.

Yes that helps....I was getting worried about running it to hot when I have less then 12 tanks of gas.

Temps, in a properly tuned engine, will vary widely with atmospheric conditions. For instance, in a very cold and dry environment (say 40 degrees F and 15% humidity) I would say it is not at all unusual to see temps over 260. Under those conditions it is very likely you will be spitting oil out the stinger even when running at 260. Point is, good smoke with a good idle and no lean bog and you should be OK even at 275... depending on the conditions of course. However, finding that 'sweet spot' can be dangerous because the 'sweet spot' is VERY close to running too lean. If you are at all unsure of where you are at, just keep the temps under 250 with a really good smoke trail and you're golden.

well usually whining noises are from binding in the drivetrain, metal to metal contacts that should be lubed. or brakes set too tight and they are always a little engaged at idle, creating drag when the truck is rolling. but if carb adjustments affected it then that one is new....is the clutch staying engaged and forcing the engine to increase rpm from the trucks force? kind of like enginebrakes.....richening it would lower the idle and disengage the clutch quicker and that could be your problem

Thanks for the replys.

After taking it out again tonight the sound is just the exhaust. It was mostly happening when I was coming to a stop and not when I was just sitting in one spot.

Anyways I found that the combination of the idle being to high and the high mixture was too rich. Its seems ok now.

I wish I would of recorded it because it really sounded like a women doing chewbacca..
