Default Having trouble making up my mind.

I am thinking about getting a MT but having trouble making up my mind on which one to go with. I have a rusty and had it for 2 years and really enjoyed it. A real good beginner truck. I race with my friends mostly they have MT and there getting tired of the rusty smoking there trucks. Now it's time to step up into the MT world. I have three that I am really looking at. 1)Duratrax Warhead 2) Associated Monster GT 46 3)HPI Racing Savage SS 4.6. I will race and also bash the truck in the backyard. I have read most reviews and forums about the three trucks. It's the same old story "it's the best, it's the worst". I need some real feedback about the three trucks Good points and Bad points. Thanks

I hope you are joking about the Warhead. Of those 3, to bash and race, maybe the MGT.

the mgt is a good all around truck. the engine is easy to break in and has a fair amount of power to it. i've had the original mgt for about 1 1/2 years and haven't broken a single part yet even after some runs through the local skate park, and a run through a dirt bike track. i just recomend getting a roll cage to replace that wire handle, and getting a stronger steering servo.

My vote is for the MGT. Do yourself a favor and don't even consider the warhead.

I had both the MGT 21 and savage .25 , I would get the MGT ...The handling of the MGT is alot better and the MGT is alot easier to work on .Plus the MGT is alot bigger ...The MGT tires are nice also and they wear like iron, but the tires on the savage ss might be good also , the savage 25 tires were complete garbage. The radio box on the MGT is 10 times easier to deal with and changing a spur gear on a savage will end your day . The mgt spur gear is just one nut and you dont even have to re-mesh most of the time ...I sold them both after i got the Mayhem ST.

Warhead is what i heard a big piece of garbage. Glad i did not get one, i decided on the mgt. It is a really great truck. Good power( i even have the .21). Great tires, it is really rigid.

I finally got to see a Warhead run yesterday... what a pile of crap. That thing was supposed to be the Savage killer? What the hell was Duratrax thinking?

MGT or Savage.

Get the Savage if you enjoy replacing spur gears...

The Savage only east spur gears if you set your mesh wrong or have a loose motor mount. I have only replaced 1 spur in the whole 8 gallons or so of running. Set it right and check it often. It's not a set it and forget it kind of thing.

Same here. I got my savage over 2 years ago and only had to replace a spur gear once, this was my fault because the i hadn't tightened the engine mount screws properly.

Lst 2 is a mgt with better radio and bigger engine. I think it is nice, but just for bashing, the mgt is a great bargain, with no compromise.

Savage X would be the best basher, no doubt about it. It can be made into a racer too, but stock for stock and mod for mod an LST2 or REVO will own a savage at the track.(equal drivers assumed so don't freak out you die hard savage nuts )

IMO, do some research and by the time your ready the savage X SS kit will be out. The RTR HPI electronics are JUNK, so wait until the kit is out.

I have a savage for bashing and an LST2 for racing, perfect combo IMO! The only thing I break on my savage is c-hubs and uprights, but thats what happens when you combine a BMX track with bad landings!

saw my first MGT at the track yesterday.

Ill try to not rate the engine on what I saw(it was toast. the guy had it on blocks and was wringing it out till you could hear it cry, all while fiddling with the needles.) infact maybe Ill give it the benefit of the doubt that it continued to start just to take more punishment.

However. it was huge, heavy, and just looked kinda cheap... sorry to those that own them, nothing personal.

granted Id take an LST2 or revo over any of the 3 listed, they suit my needs better. but the savage is the most capable of what Ive seen on that list.

atleast HPI is a relatively well stocked brand. team associated really doesnt have anything going for it either way. its as obscure if not more so than team losi(specially the MGT, the RC10GT is more common, probably because its more of a racer)

if you maintain it properly, there is no reason for it to seem that way. it looks like that guy abused his a little too hard, but i make sure to go through all the proper proceders, and its great. the engine when cared for has more than enough power to get the beast moving, and it is by no means cheap. sorry to burst your bubble about it, but you just have to learn to take care of your cars, and this guy obviously had no clue. also, my lhs stocks lots of mgt parts.

I did more research and I really looked into the Team Losi LST 2 and the MGT now I have to pick between the two. I think I might go with the Team Losi LST 2. Yes it might cost more but seems to be a better truck. I haven't heard to many people say that it's a bad truck. But I haven't heard anything bad about the MGT.
