RE: help us out
The 3.5 has a .21 size engine, and it's not a very good .21 either. It's one of the few BB trucks out there that come(came) with a weaker engine than the Savage 25. Top speed is in the LOW thirties.

RE: help us out
The last I remember seeing in an old issue of RCCA the .21 savy topped out at 29mph vs 32mph for the .25 and 34mph with optional gearing. Top speed will vary with conditions and tuning but on average the 32-34mph is a safe bet for the 25, and as Chronic stated the 21 was a rather weak contender in the MT field when the savy was introduced. It also has 3 gear diffs as well. With a few bucks and ebay a 21 can be a an awesome truck like that of the 25, 28, or X if you can get one for under $200. If not just go with a 25 if you find one or the X.
