Smoking is a normal thing "IF" it's not actually on fire.

When you apply the throttle and your picking up speed you want to see smoke coming from the exhaust pipe. That means that your running on the rich side.....putting more fuel into the engine which is getting lots of lubrication to the metal parts inside. The lubrication comes from the oils in the fuel so by running the engine rich it helps protect the engine. When the carburetor needles are set to lean is when you'll begin to cook an engine because there is not enough lubrication.

Now....check the needle settings on the manuals instructions and set the needles there to begin with. Once your there and get the engine running again.....you can begin to turn the high speed needle "clockwise" 1/8 turn at a time to very slowly lean the settings. If you go to far turning and lean the engine to much....your engine will begin to cut out on you as you apply throttle.

Good Luck!

If your glow plug is not tightened all the way...it could be leaking fuel onto the head which then could be burning it....that may be the reason for the smoke. Or....if your spilling fuel onto the head when you refuel....it will also smoke while it's burning off. Also...check the screws on your muffler to see if they are tight. Check the screws that hold the head on...be sure they are tight.....check ALL of the screws that you can see and be everything is tight.
