suggestions for 1st truck please
well, as the topic says, i'm new to the world of nitro, some of my friends have touring cars, and i'm getting bitten by the bug again (had 1/10th electric buggies like 8 yrs ago).
i kinda live in east bumble@#$% so no real places to run on road.. but a big yard and near by fields seem to scream truck. BIG truck. 1/8th most likely.
so here's my questiion. a friend suggested teh thunder quake. i've also looked into the HPI Savage. the Tamiya terra crusher looks interesting too.
they're all big, all teh on-line videos make tehm appear bomb-proof (which is what i'm looking for) and seem to be relatively comparably priced.
so far the savage looks like the best bet, but buying the reverse modu;e separately just seems to be another hidden expense
tamiya looks kinda iffy - tinder quake looks fairly big and beefy, but HPI seems like a nicer company to deal with....
any sugestions?
thanks a bunch!!!!

i guess i shoulda added that i'm looking for "bang for the buck" ... not just speed and durability. i have 2 full sized vehicles taht are ongoing projects and cost way more than they should as well.
thanks again.

Personally I would check out the TMaxx, I have the TMaxx 2.5, and the savage .21. I love them both, but parts and hop up availability for the TMaxx is outstanding. That is one thing to keep in mind when you make your final choice, do I have to order parts in or can I get them from the local hobby shop?? Not only that the TMaxx has electric start, sure better than pullstarting.

I use to pull.....and some times like MAD!!! Not anymore. Someone was kind enough to give me a nice gift certificate to Hobby Town so I did myself a huge favor and bought a starter box. Yes.....my arms got a work out pulling.....sometimes way to much. Now it's as easy as 1...2...3 and presto....we have ignition!

I have the 2.5 T-Maxx and it is by far the best vehicle I own. From what I have read and saw, the Maxx is the biggest bang for the buck. Where I live, the LHS is 2 hours away so when I break something, I order from tower. While I'm waiting for parts, I work on my other projects and my "honey-do-list". My boys are 8 and 5 so they like to run over to the truck and flip it right side up if it flips. I have a Nitro Rustler which is fun, but the Maxx rules. 4 wheel drive and reverse. Great all around basher.

thanks for all the responses.... I thought about the T-Maxx.. but it just didn't seem quite BIG enough for me. Although yopu gjuys might be right in that the tiny local shop will be able to get parts a little easier for that... grr...
thanks again.
thanks again.
