Default exhaust pipe...

i see some peeps put extensions on the pipe tips. i assume this is to keep fuel off the truck...this will not affect performance, right?

It's an exhaust diverter. I use them on my airplane engines also. I've never seen a performance decrease with them. I buy them at the LHS. A few bucks each I think.

So basically keeps the fuel off the frame and dumps it in the back, and looks pretty at the same time?

Any change in engine tone?

Yes...it's easy to install with zip ties and you can rotate it any way you want to.

Whoa....that is unique! I've never seen one of those. It looks like plumbing you would see in a house made of copper....except the one in the picture is purple.

How much do they sell for?

They're going for around $25-$35 on eBay.
Just found this one right now:

Quad exhaust with some sort of chrome plating. Ive also seen the same seller list the pipes in red, black, purple, chrome, maybe some other colors too

I'd swear that those are made from copper fittings! I wonder if they are? If so....that would make them a little heavy.

I saw a heli with a little bit of fuel tubing coming off of the exhaust. I guess I know what that was for now! I wonder if that might be a good alternative to buying something potentially expensive?

If anything it makes mine a little bit more quiet. I kind of aim it down, it wears out after a while but as CMO said, theyre omly a couple bucks. Makes clean up easier IMO.

Thats a dual exhaust, the other is a quad.
Don't know how well they work.I read you lose back pressure and are kinda loud.

The Exhaust deverter is pretty good for keeping the truck clean but just remember that if it gets any longer than 4 inches, you will start to loose power. you are safe if your under 4 inches. just a reminder.

Those pipes are made from copper fittings.

I noticed some have expansion chambers and some don't.

I think I would prefer the expansion chamber but I wonder if there is any performance gain?

I am going to try and make my own once my savage gets here, maybe even have it chrome plated at a local plating shop if it works well.

Sorry for the dual reply, but I just figured out how to post a picture.
Here is the pipe with an expansion chamber on it.
From here you can tell it is copper that was soldered together and polished.

Look good but would look better chrome plated.

I'd say the one with the expansion chamber as it will give you the pressure going back to the fuel tank. Does the one without the chamber get rid of that line?

Whats the total length of the exhaust? I read here too long (around 4") will hurt performance?

maybe you were talking about "exhsust diverter"

an exhaust diverter longer than 4" will hurt performance

I would have to think the one with the expansion chamber would be better.

03 DSG Snake - if you look at the photo you posted of the quad exhaust there is a small diameter piece of tubing going through the top of the shock tower, I believe this is the pressure line for the fuel tank.

I'm not sure about performance but for the cost of some copper fittings its worth a shot to try it, plus it looks pretty cool.

I have heard that with those new dual pipes you lose alot of power.. but if you want you truck to sound awesome and loud...get the t-maxx stinger kit, it is a rear exhaust system that is made by MIP... i wanted my truck louder the stock was way to quite so i put the stinger on and man it is loud now, these pipes are made to sound like a two stroke engine... and i got a huge power increase with this pipe...
