My truck is coming in today... after I go to sleep, then wake up, and then sit on the front porch and wait for the FedEx guy to come walking up my driveway.

I wanted to ask you, how did you break-in your savage...?

Did you Idle a few tanks or not?

If so, was that the first thing you did or did you do the circle first...

Just tell me some of the Break-in procedures that you went through.

Thankx guys, later

there is a small manual in the savage box, which is just for the engine.

in the small manual, you will find the break-in instruction.

you shouldn't have problem with it if you can understand english

well. ^;^

about the Needles. you can just leave it or check and re-set the

High Speed needle. leave other Needles alone.

the manual says "idle first tank", but i let the engine idle 2 tanks.

the manual says "1/2 throttle, then coast, do that 2 tanks".

i did 3 tank.

WARNING: ddont do anything that you are not sure about.

be patient, some people couldnt wait to REALLY play the truck

until the breaking in finished. that is not good. i tried short full

throttle during the 6th tank. and i wont lean the engine before

10th tanks.

BTW, buy a temp gauage, that helps tuning the engine safely.

the good one is Raytec MT4 infrared temp gauage

You can't go wrong with the manual. Just follow the Instructions and you will be fine. One key point. Do not let the engine get too hot during the first break in.A temp gun can help you with that. Landshark was correct in advising that you should idle for 2 tanks and cirle for about 2 tanks. Do not go full throtle till the fifth tank or fourth. I hope you have no poblems. good luck

We Idled for 1.5 hours (2 tanks). That takes some patients! I gotta go get some therapy.

You'll be fine. Breath deep....relax....think of a nice quiet country stream running softly....sunsine everywhere....your walking on a road beside the stream....you round a corner of a hillside....and there right before your eyes are all of your friends bashing their new Savage's without you! Geeee....what kind of therapy is this?

Don't worry....that was just a nightmare.....now you can go play and have more fun!

Good Luck!

dont apply more than 1/2 throttle.

slowly apply to 1/2 , then coasting, then apply throttle again,

do that for 2 tanks. it is fun at the beginning, then still nightmare.

i had 2 friends helping me doing that ^^

We did the 1/2 throttle thing, and to me that was fun, until i found out that the other half of the throttle was where the REAL fun began... we have not adjusted anything on the carbs. yet. I am anxious to see what she can really do.

Brewyet and I have just about 6 tanks through our machines, and Pyroman2000 only has about 3-4 tanks through his, because he had to finish working on his Supra today.

I think by tomorrow night I should have another 6 or more tanks through it... It sure does drink alot of fuel.

Well, I'm going grab a slice of pizza and then going to bed... gotta go to work tomorrow.

Later Guys.

i have to admit the one tank i was able to get through my savage (due to time constraints) was at a high idle... just enough to get it rolling. so I rolled it around the parking lot of the hobby shop.. rolled it through the mud. the snow. the ice.

the las 1/4 tank i blipped the throttle a bit here and there to get some speed up for sliding on the ice but nothing over 1/4 throttle and not even a half second worth.

today I'm gonna repeat and then play with half throttle.. that one tank the engine started real rich and sputtering but by the end of the tank it was running better and heating up more so I have to watch the carb settings as not to over lean it (had to lean it out a 1/2 turn to get it to idle at first.)

when i get it broke in then im going to tear down the tranny and locktite that set screw. also try out my new street tires
