Default Temp Guage for my t maxx.....

Hey, I just got a temp guage for my new t maxx. Now I have 2 questions:

1.) The little red probe that actually takes the temp. does not fit the whole way into the heat sink.....is this how it should be? Or is this going to cause un-accurate readings?

2.) Where I mounted the display piece, do you see anything wrong with it there? I foud this to be the only place that it would reach, and be protected if the car rolled....

Here are the pics...

The best readings come from the glow plug region. I'm not sure what you bought....but if it's possible to get it close "as close" to the glow plug (where the head attaches) as possible....I would say your ok.

As for the location of the temp guage....it looks good to me. Nice job!

I'm not understand when you say "where the head attaches"

Do you mean to put it down inside, around the glow plug? Or down further towards the bottom of the heat sink, where it meats the motor? OR do you mean further "in" the heat sink so it is touching the shell of where the glow plug is?

Because when I orginally put it on the first time, it was running around a 190 (I was running rich during break in) so I leaned it out a little and I got it up to around 210 with a 1/4 turn on the high end needle.......so is it in the right spot? Or where else should I try?

Ok, thanks a lot.....

I actually found that one of the heat sink slots was JUST big enough to fit the probe in the whole way.....it's to dark right now, but I will see if it works better tomorrow...

Yea, I have ran it......only on the street though to break it in....so it hasn't had a chance to play in the mud and dirt
