Best 40 series bashing tire
I was all ready to get a set of Zombie Maxes when I discovered that they are not for 40 series wheels.
What are the best grass/dirt bashing tires, regardless of brand, to get for 40 series wheels?
Are the "Mulchers" any good?

RE: Best 40 series bashing tire
I have the big joe 40 series, and i really like them, they are a great bashing tire, hook up nice, and they are really wide, to give that extra stability. Just my prefrence,

love my big joes aswell, that much that i dont even own any other set of wheels/tyres. the only thing to worry about is that if you are running them in a small engine eg; trx 2.5r, as this starts to cause overheating problems.
but on the other side my Picco Max throws these wheels about like they arent even their and my servos have never failed on me due to more weight or anything.

Are the Moabs that much bigger - and heavier??
I'm wondering about a replacement wheel/tire combo for my LST2...
I like the idea of 40 series Dish wheels - dyed black - with either Big Joes, the other similar Proline wheels - Dirt-something-or-other..., or Moabs....

Personally i'd stick to Maxx sized tyres for basing - you can even get them in 23mm now. They have more sidewall flex than the 40series - so more forgiving on jumps.

Really - the Moabs aren't as heavy as the Big Joes??? I'd think they'd be good for big jumps... The BJ's - though defo cool-looking and wide and all, don't look too tall - so I was just wondering about cushioning...

Pro-line has the specs for all of their tires on the website.
-The 40 series Big Joes are 6.4" tall and 4.2" wide. They weigh 268g per tire.
-The 40 series Moabs are 6.9" tall and 4.2" wide. They weigh 375g per tire.
So far my favorite 40 series bashing tire is the Team Losi 420 series ATX, the ones that come stock on the LST2. Although a little heavy, they seem to have excellent wear characteristics and they are very durable. They have a good sidewall size and the tread works good on most terrain. Mine have even seen lots of pavement use and they still look great.

Yeah that is a big difference. I looked at both tires in the LHS when I was shopping for new shoes and the Moabs didn't seem that much heavier...

Does the fact that the Moabs are taller mean they would be better for big jumps?? On the one hand I guess you get more cushioning, but on the other more strain on the truck's extremities??..
Too bad Moabs aren't lighter. Whenever they come up I end up going away thinking they're better left alone..

yes, i agree.
I think that the moabs would not handle as well, because of the different tred pattern, maybe i am wrong, but i think it would not make too much of a differnce when jumping i would assume.

Mulchers work great on my MGT. Maxx size mulchers that is. They last a long time too. They're better than Big Joes for everything other than pavement.
