Once you shorten the chassis it's almost a perfect fit.

RE: MRC THUNDER KING picture gallery
I'm in the process of getting back into the hobby and looking for ways to fund my new projects. Well I was able to locate my old Thunder King chassis and unpainted body. The tires are shot but that's what 15 years of storage will do I suppose. Anyone know what I might be able to get for this setup? I just don't have the time or energy to get into a full rebuild like this. But I'm sure someone out there would be interested.

I know this is a really old thread but does anyone have any metal gear sets that they would like to sell? I see that RC4WD no longer makes them. Igot another itch to pick up a thunder king after getting out of the hobby about 15 years ago and want to run brushless motors but would like to find a metal gear set first. If anyone has the metal gears or even a complete thunder king that they would like to sell with the metal gears shoot me a PM. I'm definitely interested. Thanks - Justin

You know, I might have a set of metal gears. I know I bought them and I am pretty sure I did not install them.
I also bought 2 of the last factory assembled bare chassis that were in storage in some
Old MRC warehouse. I think I used parts from one but the other is a brand new never used thunder king roller.
I am too into building cafe racer real motorcycles these days. I bought these parts so I could keep my thunder king working forever but it will probably rot before I use it again. I guess I would sell these parts for the right price. I also bought the extra chassis as an investment. Like the Steve Jobs doll I bought recently. I have wacky ideas of what will be worth something one day.

Hi guys, I still have those metal gears, never used. I bought them new for around $100 with the shipping and I don't want to lose money on them so that gives you an idea of how much they are worth to me.
I would consider parting with the brand new chassis right from MRC I guess, as well. I felt super lucky when I bought them years ago but what good are they doing me sitting in a box in my basement right? I will hold onto this stuff until someone comes along that can really use them.

This mod really helps keep the dirt and rocks out of the chassis pan and can help protect the gears. Any scrap lexan or plastic can be mounted many diffrent ways on the chassis sides.

Recently bought a Nitro Thunder King and made a plate to run a brushless motor. I'm going to run the nitro spur gear and it's ready for the next step.
So I got ahold of a new HobbyKing 1/8 1/5 scale 120A esc. It's huge! Also bought a used Novak ballistic 4.5 motor. Can't seem to find max amp specs on the motor and I'm concerned I'll hurt it with too much power.
Is this motor even the right choice for the size of this truck?

Nice. I have 5 now since my original post. The first one is the nitro that I converted. Ran it one time and it dead. I need to buy the program box for the esc. I've read that the factory lipo shut off is set too high. Hopefully that's the reason that it dead.
The other 4 are in decent shape. They all need electronic and 2 need a few odds and ends fixed up.
