I just broke one of the savage shocks
today, my savage ran over a big plant, and big branch got
between those two front left shocks. the truck turned over
2 rounds. the shank of the shock is crooked. look the picture
and it seemed that the steering system got problem too.
those front wheels just turn all the way to left. the steering is still
responding, but the "steering center" now is the left. look the pic

I just broke one of the savage shocks
Here is some info I found on HPI web site. I hope this will help a little.

I just saw a new ad in the Feb 2003 Car Action from Hot Bodies that showed a bunch of new Savage hop-ups, including aluminum shocks. I'm not sure if they're available yet, you'll have to call Hot Bodies for that info. I haven't seen any from other manufacturers yet, we'll have some of our own, but I don't know the schedule. I'm sticking with composite shocks on mine though, they're lighter and smoother. Some people have reported some leaks where the body removes from the parts tree, if you get one of those our customer service guys will replace it for free.

i am still thinking, 80 dollars for 8 shocks.
so 10 dollars for a alum shock, it seems not too much.

NDeedOne, thanks for the infor, i am still thinking about
the alum shocks, my LHS will have them next week.

I just broke one of the savage shocks
they are good, not easy to break. a big plant branch got between
those two front left shock while the truck was accelerating.
the truck flipped over, and rolled two turns with that big branch.
one of the shock shaft was crooked.
it was all my fault. i have never complaint about the quality of the
shocks

I just broke one of the savage shocks
i just fixed the shock with a new shaft.
and i found out there are 2 small hole on the upper shock body
they are facing each other on different sides. if the oil is so full,
and too much pressure inside, you push the shaft in, oil will come
out from those holes. i will post pics later
