Default Air Filters

Ok I'm ready to get a really good air filter. I know HPI is coming out with one in early Feb. so I might just wait. But what other types of air filters is every one using? One more question, has anyone heard of anything bad about the K&N filters?

Do happen to have pics of your filter while it's on your truck? Where did you purchase it?

here is a pic of it. Like I said it works better than stock. Also to clean now all iI have to do is losen the screw and pull just the filter, instead of cutting the ties each time, saves a little time

Default Air Filters

I run my maxx almost always with out the body on it. I do have a roll cage which has protected everything very well. When I put the body on it runs alot hotter and does not get as much air as without it. My question is is there any negatives to running your rc without a body other than the possiblility of breaking things, which my cage takes care of. My car does seem to get firly dirty on the part, but usually I can wipe it off.
Thanks

Hav you tried cutting a hole in the windshield of the body? You'd think that would be better - less dirt.

forcelite....savageone....is correct. If you want to drive with the body on...cut a hole in the front....side...and rear windshields to help with the cooling. Yes...it destroys the "original look" of the rig....but it can also add another margin of protection to your radio gear....to a point.

If that is not an option for you....then just run it with the body off since you have a roll cage.

I think a body does add some protection to your rig especially if you run your rig near bushes...fallen tree branches....anything that could cause a direct hit on the components of your rig. If that is not the kind of terrain that you run in....then it's going to be a matter of how dirty it may get without a body on.

It's your call in the end.

Those K&N crankcase vent filters arent a very wise choice for RC. It is a gauze type filter, which is made for real cars. RCs are subjected to different driving conditions than real cars, therefore need a different air filter, more specifically, a foam filter. Ever seen the foam filters on dirt bikes? That's because of the same reason with RCs, foam filters hold more dust and smaller particles than the gauze type air filters. Also, those bigger air filters are heavier and can snap off easier in the event of a big spill. But, to each his own ey?
