Nicads or Alkaline
Just got my first RC truck a couple of days ago. HPI Savage, which is nice. My question is, the manual says to only use alkaline batteries in the truck and transmitter. Is this true, or can I make up a pack using nicads or nimh? How big of a battery should I use if I can do this?
Thanks,
Thanks,

The wall chargers that come with these batteries, and that the LHS's sell are junk.....Don't waste your money on them.
I have been very happy with the hump packs that I have been getting from www.onlybatterypacks.com
They sell a number of different sizes and shapes of packs. One I have is a 2700ma pack that has an incorporated base plate, and on/off switch. it replaces the battery box in the stock location on the T-Maxx. The other I got from them mounts on the front shock tower. It is also a 2700ma pack. Putting the battery in this area also helps with weight distribution too.
Another consideration for the size of your pack is the servo group you are running. Both of my trucks have the Airtronics 94359 200oz steering servo, high demand to say the least. Even with this and a Hi-Tec fast throttle servo, I can run all day without having to recharge my pack!
