Anyone else getting bored with current MTs? Or am I too demanding?
So, we are on our fifth generation Savage (21, 25, SS 4.6, X, X SS), our fourth generation TMaxx (.15, 2.5. 2.5R, 3.3), third generation LST (1,2,Aftershock), third or fourth generation CEN Genesis and MT... XTM is on their fourth generation Mammoth, and so on, and so on.
I guess I just get bored easily... Remember when the new Maxx or the new Savage, or LST came on scene? How cool they were? I just don't see anything new out. Even new designs are really based on fundamentals from other trucks. There has to be a way to break out of this box we are in.
I personally would love to see more scale Nitro stuff... XTM XFactor was a blast, as well as the Mad Force. Solid axle twin plate designs are cool and different. I guess they just die out though because people want to race, and those are primarily bashers... I was bummed to here that the Xfactor 3 development is cancelled, and instead they are making another truck based on the Mammoth...
Am I the only one? I see the new 1/8 scale buggies, and they are pretty dang cool. They seem to be 'freshening' the technology and offerings faster then the trucks. Is there anything new on the horizons that I don't know about?

I have more money in my Savage and LST2 than I like to talk about, but I enjoy slinging that old clumsy $200 ebay Mad Force around just as much as either one of those. It won't handle as good or run as fast, but it's just as entertaining.
I would love to see more variation in the MT field. The new X-Factor could have been so awesome.

Well, Duratrax tried with the Warhead which was susposed to be the best of both worlds, kind of a cross between TVP and a Pan style chassis. Of course their executation was not that great.
Then Traxxas has the Revo which is not all that old - even though it is on it's second generation too. But at least it was inovative when it came out.
And there are the Hasbro ones that were susposed to come out long ago. I still think that the one that would invert would be cool IF they can ever get to market.
But no, I don't really get bored with the MT's 'cause when I start to get boredI usually go to my planes or boats or helis. They are different enough to keep the hobby intresting.

so.....seeing that your "bored" and all.....maybe you could freshen yourself up by going out and doing some insane things and putting them into an insane video? lol I suppose you are correct in that area but the thing is is when you think about it....an mt is ALL terrain. so the new idea is hard to come up with because things like buggies and st's and truggys all have their difficulties in these areas so new designs come out that seem to work better and always seem to look cooler too. i suppose its hard to do that with an mt....the only thing they could possibly do is find some magical way to get super handling and speed onto it. ive also been craving an 8 scale buggy lately but i still enjoy the mt the most

maybe its time for a new revolution in engine desings and the trucks itself,
maybe a new 2 cylinder engine or some thing totally crazy, new hydraulic brakes, and 4 or 5 speed transmissions, and some sorta computer to do all thoose traction controlling and engine timing like in the real cars something like this would be damm nice
welll ya i think i am demanding too much, and most petrols have hydraulic brakes and stuff, but its time for a change i think!!!!!

Well, I just solved my problem. I bought this for $125 shipped, complete with radio, servos, etc. in need of a few parts. I am going to airbag this truck. No kidding. I am going to unbore myself with an all new scale project.
For anyone that has forgotten, this is the Xfactor I built a year or so ago.

Maybe its not the design of the trucks we are getting bored with...maybe we are getting bored with the way we run them. We need a new form of racing or a different way to run the trucks. Remember the US Hot Rod Association and the mud bog drag races they had, That would be fun if we were to do it with rc monster trucks.

I know 2D, LOL. a bumpstart-compatible MT that didn't suck (coughWARHEADcough) that didn't require some convoluted special starter box (coughREVOcough) would be awesome though

I say this every year but never follow through, I got to get back to my true calling (motorcycles) the real ones. Building something bad looking and at least sounds bad to the bone. I need to hear that deep rumble or the scream of a high performance 4 cylinder sportbike. Something naked though. Instead I bought all these rc trucks and cars, to save my health, as this older body won't take kindly to fast stiffly suspended sports suspension. But knowing you got it, waiting in the garage for an hour or 2 of pure **** your pants terror is awesome. Making your heart pound 170, 180 beats per minute from the adreneline rush!! It just takes me back to my younger days, the clanking of heay steel rattling pumping iron.

silver...nothin beats the hair-raising wail of a 4 valve Suzuki GS through a Vance&Hines pipe if you ask me
I've got a 2valve 550 now...been trying to find the *right* GS750 or 1100. I'd settle for a KZ Standard or GPZ750 for now though:P
even though it's certainly not fast, that little 550 never fails to get my juices goin. oh, and i hate you for bringing up motorcycles when it's 0 degrees out and there's 6" of snow on the ground, LOL

Just look at some of the suggestions here...
LST3, 1/8th Revo, MGT3...
Is this the height of originality? The only suggestions people can come up with are slightly larger versions of existing trucks, and sequels? I think that may be the issue. This kind of thing bleeds through to all levels of RC, the minis are all clones of each other, the micros are clones of the minis. It's hell telling one 1/10th tc from another...
