Yeah, that 2.5 would be the best small block, but if you want a good replacement engine at a low price go with the Megatech M-16. It drops right in, has very good power, (will wheelie over backward in stock Maxx with proper tuning) and is very reliable. I have had my M-16 for over a year with no problems. It still has very good compression after 3 gals. of dynamite 20% nitro.
I just recently retired it to install an Ofna .25 with an XTM .21 conversion, but that's another story.

Yes...it's an .18 and it's suppose to be a drop in engine for the TMaxx.

Can we say...."SCOTTY I NEED MORE POWER"!

It had better drop right in at $300. bucks with NO starter! You need to buy the new ezstart for the engine also. OUCH! It will probably retail around $200. but still you could get a low end .21 and a converstion for that!
Click the pic.

XTM has an .18 for $99 with pullstart, it's supposed to run with the 2.5 easily and it's a little more reasonable.

forcelite & 3maxxman,

actually sirio is making a new 3.0cc competition engine that is a drop in for the new traxxas 2.5.

can check specs on front page of www.rccaraction.com at the moment. there is a link there. won't be under 100 bucks, but will probably be one of the best on the market.

wildtxn, if you click on the picture in my other post you will be taken to the Team Trinity web page for the Sirio .18 that is the NEW 3.0 Think about it, .15=2.5 so .18=3.0 understand?

If you are looking to replace the stock TRX pro .15 I would recomend the OS .15 CVRX with an MIP Stinger pipe it is just as fast as the new 2.5 motor as far as I've seen so far, I've got one and the new 2.5 does not run away from it so it is pretty comparable as far as speed and throttle response go they are pretty equal MY .02 worth

My friend got the Sirio 3.0 for his Maxx. So I can give you a first impression. Just like all Italian engines, the quality is second to none. The easy start bolts right up to the backplate. It should drop right into a 2.5 Maxx. Now if my friend would only install it so I can hear it purr. He can't decide which one of his two Maxxes he is going to put it in.
Plus he is waiting for the matching exhaust.

Does anyone know anything about the .18 that Hotbodies has out? I think it drops right in but don't work with the ez start. It is pull-start. It retails for $99 but is it any good? Whats the retail on the XTM .18? The LHS has one of the Sirio .18s and I'm thinking of getting it. Is there any other post or reveiws that has some good info on it?
Thanks

This is what I found on the Sirio .18 engine. If they could get the price down it may become more attractive.

How much is your hobby store selling it for?

Yea the Sirios are a little pricey.
I'd like to also know how the HB.18 is.
I want the HB.18,XTM.18 or the ever popular M-16.
Now I just have to figure out where I'm gonna get the money!D'OH!

The LHS has the Sirio retailed at $199. I can't really afford that but he lets us sell things on consignment so I plan to offset the cost by selling a few things that I don't have a use for . If anybody has any experience with the HB .18 give us a shout. The $99 price tag makes that one very appealing.
Whats the retail on the XTM .18?
