Default MGT problem please some one help!!!!!!!

I bought a mgt a week ago and it worked fine but then one day i lost forward gear? but reverse still worked then i brought it in and checked it over and it seemed fine even after opening the transmittion up so i tryed again and it worked for a bit the gave out again and would only "catch" and move forward few times and after turning the spur gear it would spin freely and then catch but let go again and it felt like something was broken but when i checked nothing was so im guessing it is some where in where it switches from forward to reverse so in need help cuz im pretty sick of it working on the bench but soon as i start the motor and try it it fails so if some one could help me out?

Are you sure the servo is pushing the linkage in all the way, you may need to adjust the spring tension on it. The servo pushes on it fairly hard.

i reckon u snapped, or sheered the little pin on the FWD/REV hub, cause the hub has 2 pins, and either side is 2 gears, when u select either one it pushes the hub onto the forward gear or rear gear and grabs on the pin and goes, i reckon that pin has snapped, check it out

ok il check it but i dont think it is broken i thought it might be something in side the hub but i cant see why it would also work in reverse to if something in the hub was broken cause i think theres only one little pin in there

No im talking about on the outside of the hub, each side has a pin, 2 pins, one is for the FWd gear and one for the Reverse gear, if the forward one snaps of, it still has the reverse pin attatched, so it will still reverse

no worries mate, its all a learning expreience, if u can find your way through the tranny, then everything is pretty dam simple. I would suggest getting a FOC (forward only kit) if u dont use reverse alot, and that it gets rid of alot of rotational weight, so u get better accel and a little more top end, plus it makes the tranny indestructable nearly, i had lots of problems without the FOC in and as soon as i changed to the FOC all my worries dissapeared. Wont go back to reverse again
