I,ve had my savage 2 days and i already stripped out gear #76942 52t, if anybody knows what this gear is and why it has stripped out please reply. I am new and very unknowledgeable about nitro trucks, so i got a savage because it's supposed to be tough and look what happened! If anyone can help please do!!!

Well I dont know about MTs but maybe your gears werent meshed right?
This could easily cause them to self destruct.
And see if theres a hole in the tranny. Maybe dirt and sand got into and and sorta sanded it down!

That is your spur gear
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...42&FVPROFIL=++

the spring and plate assembly that mounts this gear is the slipper clutch. It lets the spur gear slip on impact instead of stripping teeth. Try loosening the nut on the spring a little. Also make sure the engine is secured. If it is loose and has shifted it could cause your gears to be out of allignment. To set gear mesh sandwich a piece of paper between the gears and tighten the engine mount screws when you get it set. Hope this helps. I don't have the savage or I would give you some pics to demo.

also a small rock or debris could have got caught in the gears... all it takes is one tooth to bust and it starts a chain reaction.

but first I would put the new gear on then check the allignment of the gears... make sure nothing shifted.

Send the part back to HPI they will replace it for you free of charge. Your spur gear may have been to tight as well.

This has happened to me to. I was climbing a really steep hill and took several runs at it. After a while the engine started to make a free reving sound. The spur gear stripped.

This is simple to replace. Do not worry to much.
