So why did you decide not to go with the 2.5 Rustler if your already looking for hop-ups for the Maximum st? Now that Duratrax is the same price with the engine as the Rustler and you can only get parts in limited locations.
Yes, the OS engine is a good option and that's not a bad price. IMO.

Not to bash Duratrax....but I like Traxxas products better.

Since I don't own either one...I would not be the best person to ask. However, I think your looking at two different rigs there....so the performance level will vary from each rig.
If your looking for speed....I think the nitro sport will be faster.
I would go to Tower Hobbies website and look a the differences so you can get a better idea of each one.

I would recommend going for the Traxxas. I don't own one, but I did own a Duratrax Overdrive ST. The key word here is DID. I returned it for a refund in less than a month because it kept breaking. I know that r/c trucks break, but I thought that I should have more than 20 minutes worth of enjoyment a month, and that's about all I got.

Crash, it's a GP Ultimate Bipe .40 built from the kit. Thanks for the compliment. I just hope it'll eventually fly as good as it looks. Everyone at the field says that my pilot jinxed because for the longest time we haven't been able to figure out why when I give it full throttle the engine dies. Come to find out, I have to replace the tank. Haven't done it yet because we haven't had nice enough days to fly anyway.
BTW: Go here to see my pilot: http://home.attbi.com/~drafter/Ultimate/Ultimate07.JPG

beardking......LOL....That's great!!! At the risk of blowing it....is that a Star Trek character?
I use to have a scratch built 25 sized low wing Funster sport plane....and I had Mr T sitting in the front...and Barbie sitting in the back. It just made that plane somehow.
Be sure to tell me how you like flying the Ultimate. I sure like the lines it has. Has that "I CAN DO ANYTHING" look to it!

Crash, I'm appalled at the thought that you would consider that beast to be a Trekkie reject!!! ;-) Just kidding, no, it's not a Trek character, it's Lurtz the leader of the Uruk-hai in The Lord of the Rings : Fellowship of the Ring. I got him and Gimli in a package. Now I have Gimli on my desk with the bottom half of Lurtz beside him.
In case you can't tell, I'm a big Lord of the Rings fan.

Can you see me with my foot in my mouth?
I got it....actually I do have it....the movie....Lord of the Rings. I bought it on DVD. Very cool affects!!!
I just traded a Cessna ARF today for a T6 Texan ARF. The guy lives in Virginia. He was also selling a Kyoysho P51 Mustang so I had to buy that also. He is interested in RC monster Trucks so I may be trading my EMaxx for more airplanes.
Flying is my first love of RC.....but I also do enjoy RC trucks. Can't have enough of both.
