Warhead stalling
Hi all. My name's Dirk and I bought a DTX Warhead some time ago. After some bits broke I got the EVO upgrade under warranty. I am new to RC products. For some time now when its warm enough to venture outside with the truck, it stalls when letting go of the throttle from 3/4 or full throttle. Basic tuning seems to be right. Engine temp is in the ballpark and the truck idles okay. Any ideas where to start looking? TIA

The tuning's not right yet. I'd guess it's a bit rich but w/o seeing & hearing it that's all it is, is a guess. Your best bet is to reset the carb needles to factory and retune it.

yes it's hard to say, could be a week glow plug, old fuel, bad tuning etc....
but for starters what are your temps? around 250-260 you should be close enough to good on the high end, how about the low? will the truck idle? if so run it, bring it to a idle and pinch the fuel line and count, it should die in about 3-5 seconds, if it dies too soon the low end it lean, if it dies in more then 5 second it is rich. I generally target 4 seconds, in about 3 seconds it should start idleing faster and die around 4-5, I preffer a tad rich just to be safe. now you might need to make a small adjustment on the High end after. if it will not idle then check your idle stop screw (if you adjusted the low end needle you will most likely need to re-adjust your idle stop screw) adjust to get the proper idle. you need to do this with the engine warm

RE: Warhead stalling
When I have that kind of problem, I ususally find the solution in an air leak. You need to take the engine apart and seal the backplate and carb. You also need to make sure there are no air leaks caused from O rings within the carb. They need to be tight or replaced.
Some of my engines, after sealing, also required up to two gallons of fuel through them to be completely broken in where the engine tune would stabilize.
For now, please seal the engine up, make sure all fuel lines are good and the tank is good and the fuel filtter is not leaking.
