Default The Tire and Rim Weight Thread...

Just an idea.. Could be good to have a thread where people can post what a certain tire or rim or combo weighs..., and others can check it..

I just got my Axial Terra-izer tires, Bead-lock rims, and Big Joes in the mail - so I'll start..

1.) old-school Savage 25 wheel/tire - 355 grams

2.) Axial 8-spoke Beadlock rim(black) with Axial oversize Terra-izer tires - 301 grams (NOT including screws..., and one ring)

3.) And the real whopper - Axial 8-spoke Beadlock rim(black) on Proline Big Joes - 421 grams.. (also not including screws..., and one ring)

Looks good though....(and H-U-G-E...)

Will weigh some others later....

You would be surprised how much more nimble and quicker a LST is with 2lbs removed via a ligher set of tires and wheels...

Ofna dish on Dirt Bonz...:

Also, a little tire-related word of advice: if anybody out there is considering ever buying Proline "extra-firm" unmoulded foams - DON'T. Part of the reason those Dirt Bonz are so light is that there are no foams left..... Shame too - was actually starting to like that combo better as I've gotten used to it....

And here's a little size comparison.. The Joes are RIDICULOUSLY H-U-G-E......... Need a new CB for them I think.....

What would you recommend then for a still big(so to not lose too much speed..), but also durable, all-around bashing combo?? I like the looks of those Panther Pythons on the 420's...

Why are LST2 wheels so heavy? I thought dish rims were lighter - and the tires don't look all that heavy.... - not like, say, Big Joes or Dirt Hawgs.....

Has anyone weighed the stock tire and wheel on a Warhead? They are supposed to be a lot heavier than other wheel/tire combos, but I havent had the opportunity to compare. I don't have my own scale, so I can't weigh the stock Warhead wheel/tires that I have. Someone please post the weight of these if you can.

Maxx size BowTie on 14mm Velocity - 215g

Crimefighter on 40 series, 23mm Velocity - 225

Losi Claw on 14mm RPM Monster Spider - 420 [X(]

sorry, my pos scale round to the nearest '5' after 12 grams.... The BowTie is more like 217.5, my scale had a hard time deciding between 215 and 220 [sm=72_72.gif]

Well I've got a set of Losi 420's on the way - to go with the Big Joes... Taking bets to see if this combo will be lighter or heavier than the stock setup.........

Here is Axial oversize beadlocks with a Moab XL on it, and several of the stock warhead evo tires. Scale is in ounces.

Other thing is the Moabs on the Axial wheels FEEL alot lighter than the stock warheads but scale is showing otherwise. The warhead tires have never been run through water and only 2 tanks of gas run on them, I only have pics of 3 because two of them actually have the same weight, the 14.4 ones

I looked up the conversion to grams, to put it in perspective with what else has been shown here, The axial oversize beadlock (black chrome) with Moab XL's are 14.4oz=408.24g. The stock warhead wheels are , 2 of them are 14.4oz=408.24g 1 is 13.6oz=385.55g and 1 is 13.9oz=394g.

Whoa!... I can't believe Moabs on Axial Beadlocks are LESS than stock LST2 wheels.. I would have expected that to be by far the heaviest combo you can get....

Can that be right - the LST2 stockers are the heaviest combo measured yet?? Jeeze....

Though my Ofna dish rims that I dyed black came out well, after a while they start to look kinda' faded. Which makes me think maybe just stick with white....

If you leave them in the dye long enough, they should be fine.. I dyed my PL Velocities about 6 months ago, and they're still as black as they were when I 1st did it..
