Default Beadlocks/40 series?

I'm looking at getting some beadlocks for my Savage X, which I use primarily for bashing. My wife hates the burning condom smell when I boil tires, and it's kind of an annoying process. How much do beadlocks slow a truck down? I know they're heavier, but by how much?

Also, I'm debating between staying at the stock tire size or going up to 40 series. Pros and cons? I've searched on it, but haven't found much.

Thanks!

I don't. Just have a vivid imagination. If you haven't ever boiled tires, smells like butt.

Did you notice much of a difference in performance? I don't care about absolute lap times or anything, as this truck will likely only see playtime on a track (and really big air at the BMX track), but don't want to take too much of a hit, either.

Maximizer doesn't make a beadlock to fit 40 series tires, not sure if the Axial wide beadlocks will fit 40 series tires. I have both and they have been realy reliable wheels. Just read the directions on the pattern to follow when tightning the screws and you will have no problem. I hav'nt noticed any decrease in performance due to the little extra weight.

Axial does make a wheel that will fit 40 series tires. They call it the "oversize".

Well I put Moab XL tires on axial oversize beadlock wheels and they weigh 408 grams or 14.4 oz. if that helps you. The stock LST wheel and tire is 422 grams according to the tire and wheel weight thread.
