C5 Savage Racer
Just wanted to show you my Savage Racer...
The weight to power ratio improved drasticaly from box stock:
I can guess the stock .21BB pumps out about 1.9 hp while the C5 is rumored to be close to 3.0 full horse
The weight box stock is around 5.300 kg (11.67 lbs), while mine is now at 4.900 kg (10.79 lbs). I am sure weight could go down even more, probably around 10 pounds...
So weight to power ratio went from 11.67/1.9=6.14 lbs/hp to 10.79/3=3.6 lbs/hp
That's quite a bit, and performance are nothing short of spectacular now
Modification so far:
- RB C5 B with .21BB pull starter (custom mod)
- RB086 pipe
- RB air filter
- RB concept 25% fuel
- Inline big clear fuel filter
- HPI Nitro MT pipe bracket
- Aluminum two halves type clutch tuned
- Hitec HS5945 digital servo @ steering - HITEC 605BB for throttle / brake
- 6 volt 770 mAh Robbe mini rectangular batterie
- Custom throttle / brake linkage mod with removal of "c" clip servo saver
- Threadz premounted Bowtie type tire on threadz rims
- One inch custom travel limiter inside shock body (1.5" of ground clearance)
- 35 wt shock oil - 7000 diff silicone front - 3000 rear
Waiting on:
- Drill starter kit
- Proline dish type, one inch offset rim - 3 stage trinity foam - (Got the proline Bowtie0
- HD HPI dogbones
Whish list (hopefully for soon):
- Hot bodies CVDs all around (when available)
- CF Vertigo TVP
- Aluminum shock tower
- Titanium hinge pins, titanium turnbuckle
- Maybe alum HB shocks (depending on weight)
- Adjustable steering servo saver
I have two official race beginning of may. So far, more than 40 MT registered - a dozen savage -

C5 Savage Racer
I'd like to see more vids of a C5 Savage going full boar down a street or sumthin. I've seen a few vids posted on the Maxx Traxx forum, but, the ones that show real power demonstrations are soundless and super small in screen size.
DFF, Looks like a great truck. I think I'll either get the C5 or the Ofna Picco .26 engine. (of course once I save my allowance from my wife - I get to stash a few bucks here and there!!! So like...about two years from now!!!)

C5 Savage Racer
I did not geared it for top speed. So, right now, I am still using the stock 14 teeth clutchbell.
Given the fact it screams at top rpm like no other engine, it still goes way faster than stock.
I can guess the stock .21BB is running at around 30 000 under load for a top speed of 32 mph (radar certified)
Since the C5 run @ 38 000 rpm under load, it goes:
38 000/30 000 * 32 = 40.5 mph
And the way it goes to that speed is quite amazing. It has almost no inertia and it hit second speed in a matter of tenth of second.
I know I could gear it to the moon given the torque and 3.0 hp it is rumored to do.
Let say that it could handle a 18 teeth clutchbell (the biggest one you can fit in the Savage after milling down the engine bracket) for a top speed over 50 mph...

Contrary to popular belief, the C5 is not difficult to tune.
This is the kind of engine that run very good even at low temp, with a rich setting.
Mine was doing wheely @ 180-200 deg like mad.
At 240 it's almost uncontrollable and it will do severe damage to most tranny.
Pure race breed engine
