They're both good trucks. I'd say the MGT is more durable for bashing. If you want to do any racing, go with the aftershock. It is much better on the track and you can get the LST2 upgrade kit to toughen it up. The aftershock comes with a better radio too. I'm sure you'll have fun with which ever one you decide to get.

If you're willing to spend $500, suck it up or save for another couple of weeks and pay $550 for a new LST2.. Then there's no need to ask - you'll KNOW you have THE best MT.
Go too www.killerhobbies.com .... I'm pretty sure if you put it in your cart the price comes up closer to $550... Worth every penny....
From the trucks you mentioned, I would get the MGT - it's cheap and big and sturdy, etc..
The Aftershock needs some mods right off the bat, so most people end up buying parts for it and eventually admit they should've just bought an LST2...
The TNX is a bit of an unknown quantity - not many people have them. You can get it and see what happens, but as far as I'm concerned it's buyer beware, and I would get something else..
Other options would be maybe a truggy - the Thunder Tiger ST-1 or Hyper ST are supposedly really awesome - and like 400 bucks or less ( www.amainhobbies.com for the ST-1..)
All of the above trucks are great - the Savage too BTW - and will be a ton of fun.. IMHO though the LST2 is the best - and the difference that makes it the best is VERY MUCH worth the extra 50 bucks....
To repeat, they're all good - so read around, if pos go to a LHS and look and feel one over, then just go with your gut....

There both great trucks. There both capable bashers. The Aftershock might have an on the track. The Aftershock has a better radio system and is cheaper. Which ever one you get youll have fun with.

It appears to be pretty nice, lets just see how it holds up. Videos of it sure make it seem like it hauls

IMO the MGT is easy to start, dosn't have too many probs and the stock motor is very easy to tune from my own experience there havvn't been any major breaks only minor tranny parts and replacment parts nothing too marjor but thats the MGT i dont know to much about the aftershock duablity wise. and on ULTIMATE HOBBIES the MGT is only $369.00

Here is the LST2 upgrade kit - http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products...rodID=LOSB0014 -- everything there is what has been upgraded (except the diff cases, the Afterhshock has aluminum cases already) so basically, those are the parts that were weak.
I'd go with the MGT between those two, or LST2 over all. The new XTM MMT does look pretty cool also, though, and it's fairly inexpensive (and it's huge!)

The Aftershock is a LST with upgraded diffs, a forward only tranny, nice JR radio equipment, and very nice quality.
Put an LST2 pipe on it and it will haul.
My little brother has one, and other than stripping out the 14mm wheel hexes (dang does he have it putting out absurd amounts of power) and a shock shaft from hitting a stump at about 40mph, he hasnt broken anything yet.
For $320 at Killer Hobbies, there is simply put not a better monster truck for the money.
For another $110 you can get the LST2 upgrade kit, but my little brother has not seen the need for it yet, and he has bashed it quite hard for 5 gallons or so.
It freaking SCREAMS and will wheelie better than my LST2.
But if you can scrounge up $550, then by all means get the best MT out there, the LST2 [8D]

There aren't really any better trucks than the LST2 and Savage (XSS kit), *just an opinion of course... I think the closest thing would probably be a CEN GST.

Mach engines are about as easy as they come - them and HPI engines.. The TT engine in the MGT is supposed to be really user-friendly too... All of the above are as easy as they come...

RE: looking to buy aftershock or mgt
I would get the mgt very strong easy to fix and lots of fun also has rev and drill start or pull start and a flag you just can't beat the flag. I have the lst2 and if I'm just going out for a quick bash I take the MGT. I think the mgt is the best rtr for under $400 and it is a fun truck. the aftershock is also a great truck but like every one is saying if you upgrade you will wish you just bought the lst2. I don't think you can go wrong with either so good luck.
