Savage X vs. MT2 drag race
Kinda interesting, for fun today I raced my brother's MT2 down the street with my Savage X. They ran neck and neck, every time, which shows that it is possible to make a Savage pretty fast....Both models have swapped engines, etc (listed below). Will try to post a video soon.
Savage X:
Axial .32 Spec1S
3-Speed
18/47 Gearing
HPI Polished Pipe
Robinson Racing Flywheel
3-Shoe Metal Clutch (Mugen Shoes)
Big Joe's
MT2 18SS:
O.S. .18CV-RX
14/49 Gearing
HPI Aluminum Pipe
Motor Saver Air Filter
Robinson Racing Flywheel
HPI Racing Clutch
Masher 2000's

looks good[8D] I guess its lighter so it helps the engine rev up faster. I bought if for my savage though because the pins on my stock flywheel kept popping out.

Sounds like a couple fun trucks, and a fun activity!
cleek, don't spend money on a special flywheel if it's speed you're after and there's nothing wrong with your existing flywheel. If it makes your truck any faster, which I rather doubt, the difference would likely be impossible to notice.

If your brother gets a 2-speed for his MT2, he will outrun you. The only reason the savage kept up was the lower 1st and taller 3rd. If the MT2 had a lower first and a taller 2nd speed it would walk away from the Savage.

Ifs, ands, and buts don't show up on race day, though! There's always something that could make one or the other faster or slower. Narrower tires on the Savage would have helped, optimized gearing on both could have made a difference, the tune, the pipe, etc. Run what'cha brung, fastest wins. The beauty of drag racing.
