Default Help with Savage.21-Please

To all the experts,

I flipped my Savage without a top on it. It hit the cooling head and pushed the Engine downward which in return stipped the plastic wheel on the top of the transmission where it meets the Clutch bell. I replaced the clutch bell as well as the Pastic wheel.

The Engine seems to be running fine and when I hold the Savage in the air and put on the gas the wheels go like crazy. Once I put the Savage on the ground it barely moves but it sounds like the engine is Windoing out. It only goes about 5 miles an hour on the ground but the engine sounds like it is doing 120mph. It looks as if you can only install these parts one way. Am I wrong? Do you think something else may be wrong.

Please help me, Im dying to run this thing and I cant get it to work.

could be either the slipper clutch too loose or your clutch shoes arent in right/broken.

with the top off, rev the truck while holding it still.... does the spur gear spin? (plastic gear).

if so tighten the nut that pushes the spring in till its all the way tight.. then back it off about a half to a full turn. if this doesnt fix it then you might need ot replace the pad thats under the gear.

if it doesnt spin then you need to check the clutch inside the clutch bell.

this is assuming that everything is assembled correctly.

let us know how it works out.

Hey man my savage is having the same problem. the thing with mine was that the hex on the inside of the wheel had been stripped by the aluminum hub. SO I bought new wheels and mine works like a charm. Sorry if it doesn't make much since, drew

tighten the nut that holds the spur gear all the way then back it off 1/4 turn.

Does it matter which way you put the pad in up against the inside of the spur gear??
