Which is the right truck for me?
I'd like to buy my second truck, but I have no idea which one to get. The savage seems nice and big with a .21 engine, but the T-Maxx seems very popular, but is smaller with a .15 engine. I mainly just plan to drive around fast, and maybe do jumping. I just want something that will take jumps, not break, and it MUST start when I want it to.
I'm open to any other suggestions also.

I think the Savage jumps better and is more durable than a T-maxx and I had no problems starting the 21BB engine,However the T-maxx is faster out of the box and has that convenient EZ-Start system. I would say Savage all the way I'd rather jump than go fast.

out of box.
savage and t-maxx, all good.
savage is better at jumping and handling, T-maxx is faster.
but savage has more potantial. many engines are available.
the best way is to sell the brand new 21bb (should be over 100
dollars). then buy a better engine. investing a small money,
savage will be better than t-maxx with no doubt.
HPI released savage when t-maxx had been there for several
month. there was no reason for HPI to release a MT which is
obviously worse than T-maxx. also, savage is a little more
expensive than t-maxx
no offense to T-maxx owners. i am just talking about these
trucks, not their owners

Which is the right truck for me?
i just got my new XTM 24.7 engine. i will go to LHS to get
a 4-shoe clutch, then break in the engine.
now, already confirmed good engines for Savage are:
1. ofna hyper 21 8 port (high speed)
2. ofna Force 25 (high torque) (small mod needed)
3. XTM 24.7 (high torque)
just came out, no review yet, but should be good:
1. hyper 21 race 8 port (race version of hyper 21 8 port)
coming soon (in 10 days), big block .26 engines:
1. ofna picco 26 outlaw
2. team-orion wasp 26
(both are same engines)
basicly, they are all .21 engines. just the bore sizes are different.
my suggestion: Hyper 21 race 8 port
a 4-shoe clutch, then break in the engine.

Which is the right truck for me?
i know the force .25 needs different engine mount screws, but is the .247 a direct fit, or a better way to say it, is it the same bolt pattern as all other .21 engines?

I'm running an Ofna Hyper21 8 port it was only 135$ not sure on the price of the others but if you sell the 21BB you won't need much more money. The ofna motor drops right in and makes way more power than the 21BB.

i havent put the XTM 24.7 into my savage yet because i need to
buy a new clutch kit.
but the stock engine mount fits the XTM 24.7 perfectly. and
someone who was using XTM 24.7 told me it was "bolt in"

Which is the right truck for me?
What does the situation look like for dropping an upcoming .26 into one? Would I need to do a lot of work with upgrading all the gears to metal? And BTW, how exactly do I remove and place clutches and clutch bells on engines? It seems like it'd be hard. What parts would I need for this also.

Which is the right truck for me?
I own a T maxx and have been happy with it , also bought a Terra Crusher on ebay which will be here Tuesday so I will let you know how that truck is.
T maxx has been very reliable for me. I run it several hours a day usually. It jumps well enough for me, has good power, and reverse is really nice option for me. Many people dont use reverse but I LOVE it!!! My buddy has a Rustler and when he gets in a jam he always has to walk over and turn it around by hand. This never seems to happen close to him either(usually happens as far away as possible) I also like the electric start. I had an old nitro car along time ago and pull starting got old fast, breaking and repairing them, skinning knuckles. Electric start and reverse may be newbie items but I sure love them and they really add to my enjoyment.
The savage looks like a great truck though , I'm not knocking it a bit. I'm just more of a recreational guy that wants as little hassle out of a vehicle as possible and still be nitro.

Truck type
I went with the Savage 21 and the... T-maxx 2.5. I am new to RC and got the bug running (breaking) my friends nitro Stampede. Now I have to have something better than him to make up for my inexperince. :greedy:. I am really looking foward to dropping an 8 port into the Savage and getting the setting right (among other drivetrain upgrades).
Thanks to everyone for all great posts leading liberation of my $$:sunsmiley
