TA Mini MGT 3.0 vs Thunder Tiger Hammer s18
Hi guys,
This is my first post and I'm looking at getting a truck to play with. My LHS recommended the TA MGT 3.0 and on closer observation it looks to me to be the same as the Hammer s18 which is much cheaper here in the UK.
Does anyone know of any differences in build quality, parts or radio equipment between the two RTR boxes?
Thanks.

there the same truck with different shell and tyres.
Thunder Tiger own Team Associated, and as AE are more popular in the US they release alot of there stuff under AEs name, and vise versa in europe as thunder tiger is pretty popular. Either way, there basically the same truck, with a few cosmetic changes, same build quality, same parts.

Thanks very much. I couldn't account for the £60 (~$120) difference in price between the two here in the UK so I thought I'd ask.

no idea why they did that, but there identical size, my mates got a LHS and seeing were in aus we get thunder tiger stuff, so he ordered a Mini MGT to compare, there both the same, all the spare parts we have for the S18 fit the MMGT perfectly

when i bought my MMGT yesterday, i asked them to put the MTA4 S50, MMGT and S18 side by side for comparison, the S18 has slightly smaller size wheels. so the S18 is slightly smaller than the MMGT hence probably why they class it as 1:12...(that's the only reason i could think of)
it's £39 less than the MMGT.

I got the S18 for £200 +£10 delivery and my LHS (who told me they were almost completely different and it's impossible to get parts for the S18) are selling the MMGT for £270.
Not too sure why they tried to con me like that.

modelsport.co.uk, where i got mine from, sells them for 239. i believe they're the cheapest in the UK. and they have the S18 for £209. they have free delivery as well
one guy on ebay did offer me the MMGT for 225 inc free shipping but his email came to me after i bought mine. otherwise i would have bought it from this guy.

RE: TA Mini MGT 3.0 vs Thunder Tiger Hammer s18
It just arrived.
The shell is different and the wheels are different but everything else is exactly the same, right down to the colour of the exhaust tube and the servo links. It's mad.
Now, does anyone know of a receiver pack which would fit the receiver box? I'm looking at a vapextech 2100mAH pack which is 5xAA batteries but I reckon that would be too big. Are the HPI packs smaller than standard batteries?

Depending upon the battery box you'll probably either require a [link=http://www.modelsport.co.uk/?CallFunction=ShowSpecification&ItemID=16955]stick[/link] or [link=http://www.modelsport.co.uk/?CallFunction=ShowSpecification&ItemID=16954]hump[/link] pack. They use cells smaller than AAs...

best thing u can do is dump the exhaust and put a tuned pipe on this really opens it up the pipe it comes with is more a muffler and really restrictes the motor

Oh and for anyone after parts for xmas in a hurry in the UK, I ordered a 9.6v transmitter charger, a fuel filter, a fail safe and some tubing from modelsinmotion.co.uk at 4:10pm yesterday, it arrived at 9:30am today.
Very impressed.

That's the one I ordered from them, when it was delivered it's Schumacher branded. The schumacher part number is H1033.

Guys new s18 owner here, hope you can help with a few questions. MMGT owners are welcome to answer as the trucks are more or less the same
are there any tuned pipes available?
For those in the UK where do you buy your MMGT or S18 spare parts from?
How bad is the S18s rx and tx?
How long goes a tank of fuel last you? Mine is around 8-10 mins
Does your exhaust spray a bit of liquid fuel along with the smoke when idling? Is this normal or is my idle high or am I running too rich?
Do you get traces of fuel in the thing which the glowplug sticks into after a long run? (I think that thing is called the head)?
