lrp 3 spec or picco .28
I want a engine for my savage. lrp is said to be great all around engine with same specs a picco but the picco it said to have better acceleration when you nail the throttle were the lrps is slower. can you please list con and pros of these engines. thanks.

ive been after teh same question for my lst2. from what ive heard if you want a power house of a engine with loads of torque go for the picco. if you want a smoother power band that easier to control on the track look into a lrp. both are about the same in speed. im going with the picco and this pipe is the one i think people said to get.

I have an LRP and love it..
I also have a new-in-box Picco, but am getting queasy reading about all the Picco carb issues.. It's pretty off-putting...
The LRP is an engine you can buy and know you've got a powerhouse that's easy to live with and won't be a PIA.. With the Picco, you know you've got a powerhouse - but you don't know if it'll run right consistently or cause you to pull your hair out.. Even if the Picco has say %20 more power, that doesn't mean jack if you can't tune it..
I hope to break my Picco in in the spring, so we'll see..
But strictly from hearing what lots of other people have had to say, it seems to me like the LRP is definitely the safer (and cheaper..) choice..

can't speak for the picco but did hear some people not happy with them. I have the LRP and it runs very good for me and seems like I break a lot more stuff like pins and rims then with the stock engine (Ihave it in a MGT) but it has been a lot of fun. The mach 427 is also a good replacement runs great and easy to tune just a thought.

That's how I roll brah!!
They both run well, I speak only of track performance installed in a LST with the stock 90 degree header, the Picco has brutal bottom end, it falls of before the LRP Spec III. I find that the LRP fits my driving style better. It has a broad smooth powerband with the stock LST2 pipe. The Picco has high build quality's typical of a product from the boot. (14mm crank and nice bearing for instance) I would kick neither out of bed for eating crackers.

so you think the lrp spec 3 has better top end then the picco .28? but the picco .28 has more power? how much slower is the picco or have o=you not raced them side by side?

If 2D were to say one over the other, I think it's fair to say sales of the one he chose would skyrocket - at the expense of the other...
And my guess is he doesn't want to be responsible for doing that to Picco..., so he stays on the fence..

All I've heard about the RB928 is that it's utterly, crazy powerful, BUT is a ROYAL PIA to tune.... Not that I'm an expert by any means, but I personally wouldn't get one. If you got that kind of money, then Nova XRP....

Why do people car fuel consumption on there rc car i dont get it. it not like a realy care or anything and if its on a savage you not racing so you dont need longer track times.

Run time means the world when you race... We ran 7 minute quals this weekend in reverse direction. This caused us to not cross the timing loop starting the race until 50 seconds had passed. Since my Picco P7 Evo2 can go 9 minutes plus I sneaked into second place when car #2 (modded 5port GoTech) ran out of fuel.
When D-Fly called me stupid earlier in this thread I ignored it because of his poor grammar and spelling, ignorance is bliss.

you run in a hole other world then me, but my lst2 can run ten or 15 min on a tank as does the lrp but I can get longer run times with 25% then 20% nitro at least that is what it seems and cold weather it's like 8 to 10 min tops. so if you can give any tips on extended run times in cold weather or warm that would be great. might have to start a new thread but some cold weather tips and other stuff would be cool. I can kick a gallon in no time in 40 degree weather[&o].

no, run richer in winter because the air is colder, and so denser.. you run leaner and you'll fry the bushing from not getting enough oil..
