Default Meet DeathProof; Advice with disassembly of savage..

My baby: Savage x SS 4.6:

My roof decal!

Notice here my custom rear decal that i photo manipulated and printed myself, the discolouration is the smoke and soot coming off of the 'DeathProof' robot. (DeathProof is the name of my savage :P look it up on wiki..)

My sexy chick magnet:

So now that my truck's intro is out of the way:

My truck suddenly decided that it wasnt going to stop in the snow for me (I knew it was coming, because it took like 50 feet to stop on pavement). This is because I thought the dual disk brakes were set well enough, but I know otherwise now (they were loose, and would jiggle!)

as you can see here, my knife gently wiggling the disks:

Ok, so now the real question: What is the simplest way to dismantle the truck to get it to a point where I can tighten BOTH of the screws easily? I KNOW that I won't have to dismantle the ...servos, etc.. just to get to the brakes, but I am not sure the best way to do it. I will also be cleaning as I go.

Should I apply a thin layer of wd40 to the truck as i put it back together?

THANKS for the help guys! if you have your truck apart right now, A picture of where you unbolt it would be fantastic. or use a program to highlight the points where i should unscrew... and point out the screws that I should undo.

*i have the thread fastener stuff, blue little tube for when i re-put the metal on metal screws back together.

^I apologize for the gross lack of proper grammar and thought out ideas, I am feeling quite narcoleptic at the present. LOL...

I will also be bending the break linkage 35 degrees so it doesn't rub on the 'roll cage' of sorts, and provides extra 'umpfh'.

Thanks for reading, cheers, and happy holidays!

p.s. any feedback appriciated! have any extra tips? like the truck? DONT like the truck? please leave a reply

remove the tank and use a long philp's(star) to get the top screw.
for the bottom screw i use a philps bit and vise-grips to get this one.
thats it.

do you also need a manual?

So I am assuming these should not be loose as shown above. My brakes went south too and I think I noticed a little looseness. Didn't know if it was supposed to be like that or not.

I had a curved screwdriver for the bottom and a 24" for the top. Worked like a champ. My brakes (which were great at one time) are back. Night and day. You can over tighten, but it's easy to adjust.

I guess one more thing to add to the pre-bash checklist.

I wasnt able to get a longer 'driver. ended up playing with the linkage, and it stops from full throttle in about 10 feet. should I try to adjust the brakes them selves now? adjust the linkage any more?

to get more 'stop', that is.
