Default What pipe will quiet the Savage??

I just put a Hyper 8 port in my Savage and am looking for a pipe that will quiet it down a bit.... Somebody told me that there's a 2-stage pipe that would do the trick. Can anyone help me out?

Thanks,

Brian

I'll try that... I would like to purchase an aftermarket pipe anyway. Do you or anyone know anything about the Dynamite dual chamber pipe and what it does for noise and performance?

Thanks,

Brian.

Did you notice a decrease in noise?? What did it do for performance?

I've contemplated the Dynamite for my vehicles also. My neighbors haven't complained but I still feel bad when I'm tuning my cars in the street or don't have time to go anywhere else.

The Dynamite pipe is supposed to reduce the noise volume by like 33% with only a 1% reduction in top end RPM's. I think I could live with that if it actually did quiet the cars.

One of these days I may give it a try. If you do go for it let us know how it works.

I imagine the muffler.
A friend used to make temp. silencers for guns, the key ingredient was steel wool.

I just put the Dynamite dual stage competition pipe on. The truck is noticeably quieter and seems to have a little more power.

We just got a Savage and it is much louder than our RC10GT's and our neighbors don't like it one bit. This is our first .21 engined truck and we wondered if larger displacement = louder exhaust.

brian402, are you satisfied with the noise level now and do you have a 1/10 scale truck to compare it to? If so is it still louder or about the same? One good thing came out of this is that the neighbors think out GT's are oh so quiet now.

My neighbor runs a 1/10 scale Nitro MT with the O.S. 12 CVR. His is most definitely quieter than my Savage. The Dynamite pipe surprised both of us in the amount that it lowered the noise level (like day and night). I took the Savage to the local track and found that it was quieter than the new T-maxxes (with more power) and much closer to the noise level of the other 1/10 scale cars. Without a doubt this pipe did exactly what I was looking for.

what pipe will quite a savage? a lead one... applied repeatedly to the truck... wont make a sound after that.... (you might hear some gentle sobbing but that will be from the owner, not the truck)

Yea it was just a crazy idea.. I meant.. stuff steel wool into the pipe.

I sorta tried it. IT didnt seem to make much of a difference actually. I Was surprised.

Another thing you can do is enclose the pipe in another box or something and have a BIG hole in the bottom. If that doesnt act like a sound box and resonate, I think you'll have yourself a nonrestrictive muffler

Brian,
This sounds like the pipe we're looking for. Is this the pipe you purchased? Did you consider the Sport pipe (Part Number: DYN6607)?

1/8 COMPETITION TUNED PIPE. Part Number: DYN6606
Thanks.

Yes that is the pipe I purchased (DYN6606).
I did consider the single chamber sport pipe. However, since the competition pipe is a dual chamber design I thought it would do a much better job at cutting the noise level. The stock Savage pipe is a single chamber.

You could also try a secondary "quiet can" , these are sold to the airplane people and attach to the stinger. That way you can be quiet when you want and loud when you can.

Thanks Brian. I'm going to order and try that pipe. Happy neighbors are good neighbors.
