4.6 isn't discontinued.
The 8.0 has an ALL metal tranny, a huge .50 engine, and some other great improvements including a metal spur and a spur gear support...
Plus the radio has been upgraded to a Computer radio and there is a pistol style starter as well.

the difference is about 3.4 LOL the 4.6 is not discontinued but AE just came out with the 8.0. it has a more powerful engine, upgraded transmission, spur gear, clutch, wheels/tires, better radio. the 8.0 is about 500-525 dollars while the 4.6 is about 360-400 dollars.

Im not saying its discontinued and i was just asking but i think ill get the 4.60 because its cheaper and i could get the hop ups somtime also and i dont think ill keep that engine 4 long becasuse it doesent have enough power to pull that 12+ pound truck (at only 36 mph with slow accel) and keep up with my friends and are the chassis the same so i can convert?

I have the savage x and the mgt 4.6 the mgt is faster then the savage with the 3spd. Now my mgt has a LRP spec3 .28 and that runs real strong. I think if I put that engine into the savage all it would do is flip over. Both are good trucks and both have some cool stuff you can do to them the savage is stronger but can't handle for crap. If you keep them stock and just bash savage is a better choice. You do get more from the mgt for your money like rev and the mgt is very easy to work on. I could not get rid of either one or my lst2 for that fact cause you just can't have enough rc trucks.

Not positve on this, but I think the Baja is the same as an Losi aftershock, just different bodies. Ive bashed with 2 aftershocks. and from what I saw i would definitely get a MGT 4.6 or the new savage over a aftershock.

RE: Associated Monster GT or HPI Savage 4.6
They are both great trucks,
it really depends what you plan on doing with it, i have 2 MGT's that me and the wife use to play around local construction sites, or to let the dogs chase around when we go for walks, they are easy trucks to work on, parts are readily avaliable, and they are durable, fairly easy to tune, relativly low maitence trucks,
I also have 2 Savages, one is stock with the exception of shocks and a few other little things, the other is a completely modded truck, it has the center engine / center front gas tank conversion, complete billet aluminum parts, and running on a OFNA Force .32 Big block, again great trucks, with a readily avaliable aftermarket, but i find the savage's a little more for the advanced user, my wife doesnt like driving them, and working on them tends to be a little more involved...
either way, i think you will be happy with your choice, they are both very highly recommended trucks, fron very reputable companies.
