i/8 is a bigger engine and 1/10 is small block..1/8 is mostly with 21 engines and 1/10 are 15 to 18 engine
tmaxx is 1/0
savage is 1/8
tmaxx is 1/0
savage is 1/8

there are many choices, depending on your budget. Also if you just want to fool around with it, jut for bashing and stuff, you can go for the Terra Crusher, this is pretty huge too but slower than the T-MaXX. it's definitely ready to crush right out of the box. the T-MaXX has more speed and very popular. both are good along with many more. If you're really looking to go OFF ROAD, get the HPI Savage, this badboy takes me everywhere. well, good luck.

it was considered 1/8 maybe because of the size.balakung matudtud naka

DZZ400, the hot truck right now is the Savage. I'd also recommend 1/8th scale, as everything is bigger. (See? Size DOES matter!)

DZZ400......First things first. How much do you have to spend and what kind of driving will your son be doing? Once we know this we can better help you find a Truck that suets your son.

I am looking into this trade... This guy wrote;
My Tmaxx is the first version with the TRX 15 motor. It has electric start which will come with battery and charger. The receiver
batteries are metal hydride with external plug which will come with charger.Transmitter batteries are only alkalines. It has installed a sonic tronics failsafe.Three bodies the original ford pickup and I have two extras both 1950s pickup and sedan delivery. It also comes with rear steering kit and servo.I have it removed because on asphalt if you turn to fast it will rollover. In the dirt it works great you will get a turn around really fast kinda neat.If you do run it on asphalt just slow down and it will work fine.It turns in its own circle. This truck has never been jumped or abused.A few rollovers but never damaged.I will send the manual and all related paper work with it.Got some glowplugs to throw in also.
Truck is almost two years old .It is one of the most popular of all monster trucks.Any reputable hobby shop that carries Traxxas parts will have every part you need as well as Traxxas themselves. There are a ton of aftermarket companies that make aluminum replacement parts such as contol arms and bulkheads.Shock upgrades plenty available.Steel replacement gears are available as well as racing clutches. The hot motor upgrade for the stock chassis with steel gears and cv axles is the megatech 16.Guys have upgraded to 21 engines but this requires differant chassis assembly. There even have been guys who put two motors on them.
What ya think?

Howdy,
If its your first nitro RC I would reccomend something with Electric Start and Reverse. I enjoy the heck out of both on my T maxx and Terra Crusher. Pull starting could get old if you aren't the best tuner in the world, like me
. I have run 3 gallons through my tmaxx and 2.5 through my crusher and have had ZERO problems with electric start. I also love the reverse option in case you get into trouble, beats having to walk a baseball field away to pull your car away from a fence. I dont use reverse a whole lot but when I do I really love it. Pros may not use these but they sure make life easier for me. And if you are just a backyard basher like me I think you might like these options also.
I can only give you an opinion on the two trucks I own.
TMAXX
PROS
1. Fast top speed/accelerates fast
2. Electric Start
3. Reverse
4. Parts carried at local hobby store
5. Reliable
6. Handles well
CONS
1. Everyone has one
2. Not as big as other trucks
3. Not a perfect jumper(but good)
4. Not as good offroad as some other trucks
Terra Crusher
PROS
1. A Climbing/jumping machine!!
2. BIG
3. Electric Start
4. Reverse
5. Parts usually carried at local store
6. Reliable
7. VERY sturdy chassis
CONS
1. Not as fast as Tmaxx
2. Not as many hop ups
3. Doesnt handle corners as well as some other trucks
4. Heavy, sturdy chassi adds weight
The above opinions are only personal experiences with my trucks and comparing them side by side. I am not dissing your truck, there are lots of good trucks out there but these are the only 2 that I own. I am not saying that these things are right for everyone. They ARE, however, right for ME, and based on my experiences. I AM a newbie and may be doing something wrong but I have fun. Please no flames.

DZZ400....Go to your local hobby store and see what they stock. Driving off-road rigs means you will break parts eventually and if your hobby store stocks them you'll be glad you bought a rig that you can get parts for easily.
As for which Monster Truck to buy? I own a TMaxx and love it. It does all that I ask of it. I have only read about the Savage but from what others say about it.....it's a good rig also.
Pick one and go have some fun.
Good Luck!

I've talk to a guy who has a T Max and I am going to trade him for my Nexus heli. I talked to him and I saw some pics and it all looks good. Good enough for my son.
Thanks again for all your opinions, I feel much better now....

also if you really are tight for cash, a nitro stampede would be fun, though it is smaller than the tmaxx and only 2wd

badboy2....Thanks for the welcome back!

No...I was not in the mideast (thankfully) but instead have been busy doing home projects....building shelving in the hobby room to house all of my stuff....and little time to play and enjoy the RC toys lately.

How you been?
