Default i wanna do this

ever since i saw [link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3P3JxuMagBc]this[/link] and [link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jWnH30yiyQ4&feature=related]this[/link] ive wanted to make my savage do that. from listening to that guy and reading up about it i wanna try it.
i figure ill need to do this:
big ass sand paddles
nitrous injection
probably 3rd gear
aerodynamics tuning

the best part about nitro is you can water proof the electronics so if i loose it it wont be that big of deal to fix it(motor is crap want to get picco .28)

i might sound crazy but i want this soo bad. every time i look at a puddle i shiver thinkin about this.

nitrous injection wont do anything...its a gimic. all i would do is waterproof your stuff and buy 4 paddle tires. hit the water at about 35 and it will skim right accross. i have hydroplaned my revo over like 15 foot puddles with my Moabs on it before. so im sure a savy with paddles will do fine.

What makes you think that only nitro cars can be waterproofed?

I've done stuff like that on a snowmobile before. Trust me, you don't want to do that on water any deeper than you can swim, just in case. As far as getting your Savage to do something like that, you will also want to invest in a decent airfilter as well. I run a 1/8 airfilter in my Revo, and it still will sometimes have problems with water splashing through the body onto it trying to choke out the engine. Also, make sure that the engine and tranny are in top shape before attempting this. When you do hit that water, you want as much power as you can get and you want it all to go to the wheels. Trust me, if one part is weak when you start, it will probably fail. As far as the tires go, make sure that they are securely glued to the rims, you don't want a tire to unglue in the middle of your water skimming. If one does, you car could very well end up under the water instead of on the far shore. Other than that, good luck. Be sure to post a video of the results on here when you get it done.

P.S. Be sure that someone there can swim down 34 feet in case the worst happens. Can never be too prepared.

true, but i bet you that an electric has a better chance of going across water anyway, electrics rule. IMO. And electrics can stand water just as well as nitro if not better if your not an idiot. All you need is some liquid rubber and corrosion x. bazaam, water proof. Motors dont need to be water proof either so that leaves the reciever, which is also on nitro so i would prolly know what your talking about before you (attempt to) correct someone.

Those video's are from iceland. They do a thing called formula offroad. The water skimming is cool and they drive there paddle tired, nitrous injected big block jeeps up some hills that you have to see to believe. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eqx6ONBA8MQ I can't afford to do that so I built a t-maxx with pro-line paddle tires, spools front and rear, robinson raceing gears throughout, picco .26 maxx. I haven't tried water skimming yet but I climb some really steep hills.

Yeah electric is defiantly better. It's much easier to waterproof, and if it DOES sink you can drive it back because it doesn't need to breathe. Nitro will drown underwater, and the engine will fill with water, which is bad for it, and the engine might need to be taken apart.
But if you HAVE to drive in water with nitro, I would recommend a snorkel. The only problem is, you would need a 34 foot long snorkel.[sm=drowning.gif]
