20% nitro or 25%
hé guys,
Is there a huge difference between running 20% or 25% nitro on a SAVAGE ?
I run 25% now and I have lots of power, but I want to try 20% like told in the manual. Is this a good idea or not ?
*Does the truck run much hotter with 20% or not?
*Does the 21BB engine last longer?
*Will I loose power ?
*Will I blow less glowplugs (they don't come cheap isn't it ?)
*Can I go from 25 to 20% without damaging the engine ? I broke in the engine with 25%
Thancks for your 5 cents.
David.

20% nitro or 25%
As far as I know, you will lose a little but of power, but your engine will last longer. As for glow plugs, it depends on the brand of glow plug. I use os #8's in my 15fe with 20% and i haven't actually had one go out on me. You need to experiment. Instead of buying a gallon, just get a quart of 20% and give it a try. See how the truck reacts. Good luck.

I read from somewhere that with lower nitro content, means the caster oil content is higher which helps in the cooling of the engine. No doubt a higher nitro percentage gives you power and speed, but it shortens your engine life as well... I've seen guys running their car on 25% and leaning it so much that within a week, it's blown the engine. All in all, it's how you want your truck to perform that counts. Have fun!!
