Default 2.5 Engine= JUNK!!!

Here is link where to buy for $199 it is made by trinity.

http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXDRB9&P=7

One thing i look at is tech support - it is only open from 530pm - 630pm eastern time. that sucks - i just tried to call to see if it would fit in my TC3.

Default 2.5 Engine= JUNK!!!

I can't seem to find the power specs anywhere for these 2 engines. Of course if it is anything like airplane engine manufacturers, you will never see their max power rating, unless you run the engine in a vacuum on Mars or something. What I really want to know is will I see a noticeable difference from the 2.5 if I shell out the $200 for the sirio. The differences I am talking about are power, speed, and reliablility. It really chaps my ***** that I am even thinking of buying another engine for a truck that is not even a week old. I followed the break in procedure to the T, and now I have to either modify my truck or buy another engine to make it work right? Shees what was my $400 dollars that I shelled out for? Also, the 6 port vs. 8 port question I asked earlier, is there 2 different versions of Sirio engine?

Thanks for the info!

I went to the Tinity website:

I don't have any personal experience with the Sirio, but from what I've read about it, there's quite a difference between it and the 2.5. I've heard with the proper gearing, it will propel the Maxx to speeds in excess of 50 mph. I probably wouldn't change the gearing unless you're looking for those kinds of top speeds. Personally, I don't think the Maxx handles well enough to safely do 50+ mph. For me, 40-45 is plenty fast enough for a MT, but I wouldn't mind having the extra power for acceleration and climbing. The Sirio sounds like it will definitely deliver.

Just to set things straight. Trinity does not make Sirio engines. They import them. Sirio engines are made by Rossi in Italy. When my friend contacted Sirio about the pipe for the Sirio .18 and the T-Maxx he got a reply from Erica Rossi. Ugo Rossis' daughter. I guess since Ugo passed on, the kids are now running the company.

That is correct. Trinity just sells the Sirios.

I had the same problem with the 2.5 and sent it back about a month ago i think?!...anyway they replaced the piston and sleeve for nothing and sent it back..i still had the same problem....so i'm going to play with it and see if i can't figure out what the problem is but i can tell you so far- its not the carb, head, glow plugs, piston/sleeve, fuel tank, fuel tubing, exhaust, header, or exhaust coupler...just going through the list of sh*t traxxas told me to check and thats it soo far. I'm thinking the block must crack or get porous somewhere or something....who knows???....i'm going to keep replacing parts as i feel the need and i'll let you folks know when i get to the root of the problem. Meanwhile my MR-12 will take the 2.5's place in my rustler anyway......

$200 with the Sirio pipe? Is the engine new or used? If that is with the Sirio pipe you better grab it that is a sweet deal.

Jeff,
I think that the engine comes with the pipe. If you order it from tower, whenever they get them in, you could get the same deal for 185, I believe. This is of course with their monthly deals, which I believe is $15 off of an order over 200.

To everyone else, about the cutting out problem. My has stopped. What I realized is that I was way to lean on the low end needle. Once I made it more rich, no more cutting out. I was able to run the tank almost dry, bring the truck in on idle, refuel and go, without shutting it down. Woo Hoo!!!!

Truck is performing the way I was always hoping.

Good luck with yours.

NO, The Pipe does not come with the engine. If he can get a sirio engine/pipe combo, he is getting a pretty good deal. I paid $179 for the engine and $36 for the pipe.

This is why I went for the savage that .21 engine runs great every time, never had a problem with it, starts on the 2nd - 3rd pull each and every time and will run smoothly until the gas tank runs dry.

An engine is only as good as the person that maintains it.

Youzer, I am fairly new tothe truck world but I just picked up a new Traxxas with the 2.5 (.15) and it seems to be running fine. I have about 2- 2.5 gallons through it at the beach on the Pacific Coast and here at home in Seattle. I keep it a little rich but other than that it has been trouble free.

I have 2 TMaxx's 2.5 with original motors. Nothing wrong with the trucks. Just can not keep my wife from wrecking them.
