Yes you CAN.

But remember that sand, unlike dirt, is made of really fine particles which can enter your engine or transmission very easily!

Thats probably why he said that.

You'll have to sand proo EVERYTHING before you can even think about running it.

even a few particles of sand can totally destroy your engine and transmission.

I dont own a MT so I cannot tell you how to protect it since I dont know what it looks like and all that.

MAybe someone else can help?!
