Trying to start my Savage is a pain in the toosh. I just ordered the starting system from HPI for it. Anyone have any problems with it or any tips before I install this starting system?

the .21 on the savage floods easy.
the way I start it is by covering the exhast and pulling about 5-10 times to start to prime it. (I broke my priming button so I cant use that)
then I attach a glow plug and and with the exhast still closed pull a few times, you can feel when the fuel makes it to the cylinder from diffrence in the pull.
when I feel this I let it sit a few seconds for the glow plug to heat up then pull and the engine usually fires in one to two pulls. I find that if my truck has been sitting for a while or its the first start of the day it will stall a few times before it will idle right. but at this point a slow pull (past the compression cycle) will fire the engine again.
let me know if this works for you.
also if it is flooded try starting with the truck pointed strait up so the extra fuel dumps out the exhast.

The stock .21 is really a pain in the a** to start when flooded, and it really floods *very* easily.
To prevent this, pull the primer just until the fuel reaches the carb nipple, then two more times, no more. Once more and it's flooded. Then, pull the starter a little only to turn the engine 5-8 times, put the glow starter in and pull again.
Usually it starts in 1-2 pulls with this method.
Advancing the throttle trim 1/4 of a turn may help to prevent engine stalling on start.

I have the HB setup and it is essentially the same so heed my advice. Get a battery with at least 3000mah. Anything less and it won't turn the engine over.

I never had only a single blister. Start up the savage is pure technique, not pull and pull and pull and pull
If it's flooded, let is sit for a while, and try again. If it's hot, let it cool.
Is that simple

Does anyone have experience modifying the pull start so you can use a cordless drill. I would like to convert mine so i dont have to yank and dont have to worry about batteries.

Well, I recieved my starter and I have got to say.... This product is great. Not hard to install either. No more soar shoulder...yahhh. Now when I want to play I don't have to worry about wasting an hour to start it.....
