RE: The new Kyosho MFR
TRD? Whats TRD? Well, i ran the truck today at the track. First off, the truck handles really well. The suspension is pretty much super plush, and perfect for our crazy new track layout. Which is loaded with whooops, and rollers, and doubles, and no straight. My first thoughts werer that the servo saver was too weak. Well, it seemed to steer just fine. Though i never really got a chance to push it hard. As i started to tune it up a bit, i made my way around the track faster. Got into the whoops section, and got it up on the bumper one time, and gave it some gas to level it out. After that, i had rear wheel drive only. Its early to say, as i havent looked it over yet. If its broke, its also gonna be sold. But im not jumping to conclusions just yet. It may be a grub screw. I was too busy painting this past week, to get into the truck too much. I also dont like the tranny. On bumper dives, it jumps into neutral... Which is bad. Because full forward on that tranny is reverse... If it hits hard enough, kiss that gear goodbye. So right now, things arent looking up. I'll take a closer look tomorrow, or tonight, and see if its broke. But if it broke that easy, its gone.

RE: The new Kyosho MFR
Ouch, sorry to hear that Thermal.
I really thought Kyosho were onto something amazing there, but what to expect from something in the sub $400 range.
I'm looking to buy this MFR but waiting to see what people have to say after running it a few times. I know parts won't be easy to get but where I live, internet shopping is my best bet for parts so won't make a big difference what brand I get.
In conclusion, would you recommend this MT for someone who is looking for a lot of fun, someone who's looking to race or it sucks so bad that neither would be the best option?

I hate to hear negative stuff from an open-minded individual about a new model. 99.99999% of the time it means it's crap. I hate when junk comes out.

RE: The new Kyosho MFR
so any news on weither this thing broke down already?i really like the layout.i want to get another small block monster truck and right now there is only this and the mini mgt 3.0,ill never buy a traxxas, there motors are junk imo.now i was going to put an aluminum clutch, tuned pipe and larger gas tank on it and have alot of fun but if it breaks all the time i duno, kyosho parts are slim arround here.in fact o have no idea where to even order them from.how would you guys think it compares to the associated mgt3.0? it looks like it handles better and is a little bigger and imo better looking and i love kyosho's fit and finish and the quality of the design and i love the factr it has nutral! so i can warm up the motor quicker,i allways worm up my motor!
so whats the deal with this MFR? go or no go.or should i get the 3.0 for 300 on sale right now and wait for the mfr?im sure the price will go down.
P.S. i am sure there is a way to fix the tranny shifter problem, and to make sure it wont accidentaly go into reverse?

RE: The new Kyosho MFR
I got the MFR a couple of weeks ago and I must say it's a beauty and strong for the small .18 engine it's got. Only problem I've had so far is that my lhs idiot engineer never saw electric start systems and burned the brushes of the electric motor. I live on a desert island so even a toy electric motor is impossible to find, so I've placed an order for one online and should be arriving in two weeks time.
Can't say that I've had the shifting in reverse problem at all, as long as your finger is clear from the gear shift button I don't see that happening.
The only down side I've seen is that there's no fail safe with the car and that the transmitter is AM, I'm losing sleep at night because of this I got an OFNA failsafe unit and it fits easily inside the dust cover with the servos.
Parts are still hard to find, unless you speak German or Japanese, however there's a lot of site in German and Japanese that sell everything you need for this work of art.
Overall I give it a 5/5

RE: The new Kyosho MFR
Any updates from anyone about their MFR and how it's holding up? I really like the way it looks and like the fact that it's so light and handles well.
Also, it'd be great if anyone has a picture of the MFR next to a 1/8 MT as I want to get a reference in size (by specs it doesn't seem much smaller) or next to the DST (which I also like).
Thanks.

RE: The new Kyosho MFR
well i guess thats all 1/10 scale offroads :/
they should of make beefier parts really....like 1/8 scale arms at least.
im not a fan of all that plastic on the chassis!
the only 1/10 scale out there seeming descent with thicker arms and not excess plastic is the lightning stadium 10
cant believe this scale is so limited
(on the other hand you would be suprised how much luck ppl have check this clip of a jato....and i had 1! , would of brake from the first jump

RE: The new Kyosho MFR
I had the 1/8 HB Lightning GT, and it was really tough. I would imagine the 1/10 Lightning would be good. Or the Mini MGT - though I heard they were breaking hubs or something when they first came out. Maybe they fixed that???....
The HB Lightnings are generally dirt cheap too, aren't they?? If you want a small-scale truck to over-power, I would think that would be a good bet...

RE: The new Kyosho MFR
not a big fan of transmission gearboxs. Prefer the dry 2speed (or whatever they call them, you know like the st-1 option part)
the mmgt is the old Hammer S18 i think
http://www.modelsport.co.uk/?CallFun...=BiggerPicture
not too sure but i think i read that somewhere....they look identical anyways
