I've got an Axial 28RR on the way... should I use it, or loose it?
Ordered it before I read all the neg stuff about it on here. The only other thing I've ever had is the LRP Spec 3 with less than a gallon that self-destructed. (On the way back to Team Associated)
I'm racing but really dont want to spend more than $200 on an engine....
Advice?
What you you do?
Thanks
JOSH

Get rid of it. The LRP is a great mill but if you are going to race get the Picco or Jammin. They can be had for about 200. The sportwerks 26V2 is also a great mill as well as the Mach 427. Picco and LRP are going to be the powerhouses but the Picco is Italian made so reliability is not an issue. Tons of people love teh LRp. I have 2 of them and raced with one. They are great engines for the money. The Axials are pretty much gutless. They have good torque but bad top end. It would get completly smoked by a Sportwerks 26.

I bought one when they first came out. I had a horrible time with it. I didnt care for the poor fit between the carb, and the engine case either. It did seem to have a better power band than the LRP .28, but not as powerful. I wouldnt run one again.

I had a terrible time with my Axial 28RR for the first six liters or so, but I must say, since then it's been in my Savage, and has been going great for several gallons now... Very good power for a Savage, and it's become totally reliable(despite early on having seen its share of high temps..) Go figure...
That said, I have an LRP too and like it better, and am also a big Mach fan.. I'd get the Sportwerks 26V2 from amain for $130....
ps Just for the heck of it, here's a clip from a German dude, which shows that if you're lucky they can run pretty well.. My Savage has a similar top-end, but accelerates quicker thanks to the 3-speed..:

Still, if you can unload for not too much of a loss, and get an LRP Spec 3 or silver-headed Mach 427 or Sportwerks 26, and you don't mind the hassle..., I would do that...

Whatever happened to all the people that were riding STS's jock last year? Now it seems like Picco is the trick of the week.

Picco is not a fad. Picco is the real deal. STS fell apart because of quality. They had awsome crazy power but they were junk.

Go figure lol, I let my cousin drive my truck, he did a 8 ft jump and landed on the cooling head in dirt. The STS suffered a snapped off top fin despite being protected by 3 zip ties with fuel tubing Go for a Picco, I wont be buying STS again. Insane power, but my engine is starting to have problems with the carb sliding out no matter what. I still love it though. Tom.

My other issue is, that I've got a LOSI LST2. So, what ever motor I choose, It's got to be a pull-start version. The LST's wont allow for a bump style motor start set up. So, does PICCO make em pull-start?

wouldnt you rather have a roto start.
its going to be mad hard to start that thing during break in.

Well ya... spin start actually, but ya I'm with ya. You can't attatch a spin/roto start to a bump style engine can you?
I like the look of that Black Picco .26 Max. What do you guys think?

The Picco max is intended for the T maxx so unless you are installing it in a t max you will have to do some mods to make it work. You can look at the picco 26 outlaw. Thats a standard 1/8 scale engine.

Sell it! I liked mine for about 1/2 gal, then it pooped with airleaks and I sealed it but to no avail.
Lose it and get the LRP or a nice Picco...
