Default Gift for DAD....best RC kit on or off road... built only no RTR

Wanna buy my dad a nitro that he has to build. can be on or off road. I just dont want to spend $400.

He has always been into racing. His brothers each run cars in the 4cyl stock class in ny, which he is trying to talk me into building one. We always used to got the the local dirt or asphalt tracks on sat. night. I always preferred the ashphalt super modified. He always preferred the outlaws and sprint cars.

Anyhow i see him eyeing out my savage every time he comes over. Wanna buy him a kit cuz i know he will never spend that kinda money on a "toy". A truck would be preferred, that way we could bash together, but we do live in the concrete jungle.

Ideal:
nitro
1/10 or better
under $250
kit not rtr
reliable and/or well built kit

Well you said hes into RACING so

http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXSW03&P=7

thats the factory team kit You'd need an engine and radio with servos for it though... Thats why RTR is your best bet for your budget

http://www.ultimatehobbies.com//p553.html

this is the Sportmaxx, which eventually can be turned into a tmaxx w/o spending extra $$$ great if he wants to upgrade it later! can also take the ultimate sirio .18 drop in!

http://www.ultimatehobbies.com//p457.html

this is what I have now. ITS ABSOULTELY HUGE. It dwarfs even the savage its pushing the 400$ range, but I LOVE IT more than any vehicle ive ever owned, even more than my Emaxx!

http://www.ultimatehobbies.com//p347.html

this is a good basher truck, goes about as fast as the sportmaxx but doesnt have the upgrade abilities it does. It'd be fun to run around the dirt

Theres more I could show you just ask Not gonna spam you with tons of vehicles. Other sites to compare prices with ultimate hobbies (What i found to be cheapest) are

www.stormerhobbies.com
www.towerhobbies.com
www.ultimatehobbies.com

edit: wow lol jus saw you didnt want to spend more than 250$ lol my bad

edit2: this might help you more lol jus look here

From where I have seen the Sportmaxx, the add-ons to make it into a T Maxx do cost money. What do ya mean you can turn into a Tmaxx w/o spending extra money?
From tower hobbies, if you wanted everything a Tmaxx had, you'd spend:

TRAC5196 Reverse Module - $53.99
TRAC5192 Two Speed Module - $29.99
TRAC5191 4-Wheel Drive Module - $41.99

Seems to me if you want the add-ons it'd be cheaper to buy the full TMaxx up front.

Kyosho has a great Nitro truck for under $200.00. The Baja Beetle seen here : http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXAGZ9&P=0. It is a really fun kit. It suprised the crapola outta me! I had the Mooneyes Sportvan back in the day, so I was hesitant about this truck. Trust me, it's a screamer! Only $189.00 too!

Otherwise, I gotta a really awesome Big Bear (pictured) for sele on eBay!

Default Baja Beetle

Yes I can vouch for that. I have had the original Beetle now for more than 4 years and it came as a kit which you must build. At that time it did not have electric start and it had smaller wheel, but it did have the QRC.

This QRC is a strange beast, the car has no brake, basically the QRC slam it into reverse BUT it has lasted all of these 5 years and a lot of abuse without breaking, it amazes me there.

The original car had a Kyosho .11 engine which has since got a broken crankshaft and countless other problems due to been thrashed. Now I fitted a Tamiya FS18 (yes it came out of my TC) into it and the car rock, it now has electric start and is still running strong, parts is still available, and with the FS .18 it can go anywhere.

Yes it is the same truck, however, the Dodge Ram has been discontinued. I put a 98 Ford F-150 on the one I built. It looks awesome!

I find it to be a big help if my truck is over a 100 yards or so away and it can't go forward (something in the way or stuck)! I have a bad back, bad nees, bad ankles, shoot you name it it's bad on me!LOL
