Default Carb Heat Shield

The savage has a bad problem with heat transfer into the carb. Anyone would has tired to start their savage after a half a tank know what i talking about.

I am at the brain storming stage of trying to develop a way to issolate or insulate (or both) the carb from the engine heat. Has anyone done or thought about this type of modification.

The two primary "workable" ways of achieving this goal i fig ure are...

1) INSULATE the carb with some type of heat shield wrap (was thing along line of header heat shields on 1:1 only bad thing about them is they are design to TRAP heat inside the wrap and shield the outside (promotes more thorough buring of unburnt fuel escaping from cylinder and obviously protect plug wires etc) I wann do opposite

2)ISSOLATE the carb by machining carb and crank case (the .21bb carb slips into the crack case rather than bolting which makes issolation so much more difficult - are all engine set up this way?) If i machine engough material off the two pieces i could slip a sleeve of high temp plastic or silicone to prevent heat transfer directly from the the block to the carb (metal to metal).

Seems like the isolation techinque would give the greatest improvement.

ANY IDEAS ON HOW OR WHAT MATERIALS COULD BE USED TO ACHIEVE ONE OR BOTH OF THE ABOVE?

I dont think any of your ideas would be easy but if your going to machine I would buy a Hyper carb off E Bay as there a composite.
