What are the disadvantages of sticking with the pack in radio versus an after market upgrade? I will be getting the Tmaxx radio that comes packed in. Is this baby any good? I noticed radios can get outrageous in price and I wondered what all the hoopla is about Thanks!!!

Default There are many differences,

The stock Traxxas radio is cheap but, works fine for everyday bashing! The high end radio's have a lot of "Gadgits" that are great for people that race! I just sold my $175 Hitec radio because I just don't need all that extra stuff on it! You can get a good Futaba,Hitec or JR for about $80-$100 which should make anyone happy! I will just use the cheap stock radio's until they break and replace them with a good but, not too expensive one!

I have upgraded my TQ3 to the MX3 from Airtronics and there is great relief in knowing I can set up up to five different vehicles with just one radio. But I must say the TQ3 served me well until I started competing. More interference than FM.

I bought My MX-3 at Ultimate Hobbies for $89.95 for the transmitter and receiver. Then use a stock servo for throttle and get a Hitec for steering.

I also have the Futaba 3 PDF. It is great and has alot of cool features such as throttle and steering trim right on the wheel.

I have the Airtronics M8 which comes with 2 high torque servos, batts and memory for 10 vehicles... it's a little more expensive but being able to control 10 cars at any 1 time, it's well worth the investment

A pack in radio is one that comes with your RC. Like TQ3 with the Maxx
