What do you all think of this?

Infinity_FOC_pull_test.avi - (3.4MB)
If you have trouble seeing the AVI version, you NEED to go download the free DivX decoder.

Or, if you prefer the original QuickTime file:
Infinity_FOC_pull_test.mov - (2.8MB)

***NOTE***
Try saving the videos to your computer before playing them as they DO NOT stream. If you just click the link it will look like it's doing nothing until the file is completely downloaded.

i reckon it is a load of bs myself. the car wouldnt move then all of a sudden it starts moving like someone gave it a push from behind. i want to know why they didnt show the back of the truck they were "towing".... maybe because there was ppl behind giving it a push lol

I don't think so either. It just doesnt seem possible. It might have the power, but as the video shows, it can't get the traction necessary to pull it.

It took a while to start pulling the S-10 because it has aluminum clutch shoes. They don't grab at low RPM until they got some heat in them, and until then either the clutch would slip or lockup and spin the tires. I was there by myself, so the video was shot with the the camera on a tripod. I didn't realize it while I was doing it, but yes, it does look like someone could be hiding off screen pushing the S-10.

Don't worry; lot's of other people thought it was fake too. That's why I went out and did it again:

Infinity_pull_test_2.avi - 4.1MB
Again, you need the free DivX decoder.

Or, if you prefer the QuickTime file:
Infinity_pull_test_2.mov - 3.6MB

This one was actually the second pull in about 15 minutes. The clutch was already warmed up so it pulls the truck right away. At the beggining of the pull, the strap fell off, that's why I had to go back under the front of the truck.

Lol Tuna, think you posted this on enough forums? You should post the pic. of the OTB Tranny and maybe the non-believers would believe you. And don't forget to tell them your Gear Ratio for that pull, heh.

Exactly. If your going to lie about something, like Tuna said somewhere else, he would do some extreme, not pull a real car.

Yeah, I forgot about that. I read in another forum that he had the gearing so low that the trucks' top speed was like 5-10mph, but the pulling power was insane because of the gearing.

einlanzeR: Yeah... I know. But others had pretty much stopped posting it in different forums and I wanted more people to know about it! I also didn't put the transmission info in right away to try and help reduce the amount of times I was hacked on as an OTB shill...

But seeing as how you asked...

The whole reason I was able to do this was because of the prototype Infinity FOC transmission parts from OTB Technology. They had sent me up one with the instructions to "do stupid things to it" and "try and break it."

The Infinity FOC is different from any other T-Maxx transmission parts available because it has adjustable output gears. You can choose from any of 18 different ratios from super high for top speed to super low for maximum torque. It was the super low ratio that gave me thie idea to try and tow a truck...

With a 12 tooth 1/8th scale buggy clutch bell and 51 tooth spur on a Strobe slipper, I was able to use the lowest Infinity gear set to get a 65.5:1 reduction! Compare that to stock T-Maxx stuff, and the best you can do is about 30:1. It makes an enormous difference in pulling power. It takes for ever to get anywhere because it's so slow, but it's amazing what you can do!

You can get all the information you can handle at a page about the first video and another page about the second one.

If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks for the kind words!

hey tuna...I have an idea. How about pulling a person? You should make a video of that supermaxx pulling a person that is crouched down or something. The only question I have about it is how in the heck does it get the traction to pull the truck?

You mean like drag some poor sap across the pavement? Ouch! I'm not even sure it would budge the lightest person...

That's sort of like the difference between pulling the S-10 like I already did, and then taking the wheels off and trying to drag it. Too much friction!

Who hasn't thought about that one?... When I was young, I thought about putting some estes D size rocket engines on my skateboard. Never did it because mom said I'd burn myself.
