Default XTM mammoth trade for buggy

i have an ofna lx-1 buggy, seen [link=http://stlouis.craigslist.org/tag/1280716995.html]here[/link], and a guy wants to trade an xtm mammoth for it. he says it has a new motor, though he didn't say which one. i was wondering about the mammoth, things like durability, performance and such. and help is appreciated.

Ask for a picture and judge for yourself.

Which Mammoth is it? The ST version? Regular version? The ST version was a lot better (Mammoth is discontinued now).

If its the ST one with a center diff, then its a good trade. If its the regular RTR version with the 2 speed tranny, then dont do it. The diffs will keep going out on you and its got too much chassis flex. Many people made their own chassis brace to stiffen it up. The Buggy is definitely more durable and faster. Your choice though.

yea, i knew it was old, but i will run it. i never run my buggy, as i destroyed my bump box. the mammoth has a pull start, the guy says, so it will probably get alot of use. plus my revo needs a chassis to work, so all i have is my t-maxx, and i want something else to run with for a while. a new project if you will.

Ask him if its the OG (original Mammoth). If it is, then its going to be a problem child. Sorry to kill it.

what problems could it have? people talk badly about the t-maxx, but i don't ever jump it, and if ever, only a few feet. the only thing i've jumped was my jato, and my revo over a house, but that didn't end all to well.

Getting parts for the Mammoth ST won't be any problem for a few more years if thats whats worrying you. The engine is more than likely the 24.7 but they all work. Braces are not all that important unless your going insane with jumps or extremely hard driving like competition. They handle very well if you compare it to some of the other models you have. The only possible weal spot you might have is if it has the old straight cut differential gears. If you do have the old style then you can pick up the MMT or the XST differentials and they will fit right in...........they go from $10 to about $25 per diff on e-bay.......Good Luck and HAPPY RC'en

he also said he had a mgt, but he sai he would want money along with the buggy for that, even though it needed a rear diff lol.
