Default t-maxx 3.3 control arm question

I have the T-maxx 3.3, broke a control arm (nothing new there), replaced it with another plastic one....
my question is-if I put the aluminum ones on there, I know the control arms will be a lot stronger, but will it lead to something else breaking instead? Basically would the plastic ones breaking prevent something more expensive from going, or the upgrade is worth it? (I would upgrade uppers/lowers), thanks.
