Lrp .30 savage x throttle problem help
Hi guys,
I've just installed my new Lrp .30 on my savage x. Changed the gear ratio to 47x17. Did 9 tank of brake in and now started to tune in the engine. The thing is flying!!!! I can't believe how powerfull this engine is compared to my old 3.5 hpi.
But I noticed one thing: the throttle seem to get stuck sometimes and it takes a little longer to repond specially from idle full breake to full throttle, lookin at the trothle shaft it looks like something on the carcurator is limiting the needle travel.
I've replaced the bateries for new ones nothing... Pulled the carburator appart and nothing seem to be wrong with it... I though was the throttle shaft that was sitting on an angle
in relation to the carburator as the carburator as slightly taller than the shaft so I raised the shaft by putting some washers under the swivel bit... Still getting stuck I'm not sure what else could it be.
Have any one experienced this before or can give me some tips on how to adjust this?????
Cheers dan

RE: Lrp .30 savage x throttle problem help
I had a similar problem with mine, so i figured it to be the throttle return spring on the carb,
the lrp30 did not come with a throttle return spring so i used the stock spring of off the k4.6 engine,
the problem is that the servo saver kicks in before the throttle opens past half way as the stock throttle return spring is too stiff,
i removed the spring and put on a softer spring in its place now im getting full throttle when needed,
hope this works for you also.

thanks Sparky,
i'll try that, do you have the model or part number of the spring you are using on yours?
cheers,
dan

I don`t have a part number for the spring im using,
i just was at my local maplin electronics store and saw a box of different size springs for £2.99 so i had to have them,
just new they would come in handy one day,
heres some pics, the black spring is the stock hpi spring which imo is way too heavy,
the spring with a loop in either end is what i started with,
pic with the three springs, it shows the hpi spring, the spring with loops and the other is what i finished up with
after cutting the loops off,
the only time i think a throttle return spring comes into play is if your throttle linkage was to fall off,
and my much softer spring will still close the carb without the linkage attached,
and it also allows full throttle every time without the servo saver kicking in,
hope the pics explain things better than i can with words[sm=biggrin.gif]
