Default Best air filter? Savage

I've pre ordered a Savage SS and was needing the best possible air filter that money can buy. My truck will see nothing but fire roads and off road. I'm talking dusty! Money is no object, lol. I just need an awesome filter.
Also what about the K&N filters? Any good?

I've also seen a cold air intake on ebay. Looks like a good idea. But does it work.

Thanks in advance.

I am using a Motor Saver on mine. Works very nice. Never had a problem with any dirt getting through..Part#SAV90. I f you go this route, go with the HPI high perf though. It s the same exact filter, only about 6 bucks cheaper.

i hear paper filters suck, and K&N's arent the best for RC's (I have them on all my other vehicles though)

Motosaver or HPI High preformacne (same thing) gets my vote.

I use the motor saver filter, and i race in dusty conditions and my inner foam still clean. for the savage you just need an extra rubber coupler (ie by Gs racing smaller diameter) so that it reaches over the spur gear and inside the rollbar.

Will the current motor saver filter and J coupler work for the newer .25 Savage SS engines also? I haven't yet learned if most MT filters are interchangeable

Yes it will. Airfilters are split into small and big block categories. The little angles and adapters are what you have to play with to get how you want it.

Well, I found the GS Racing J coupler.....maybe it'll save some people some searching

Head up to your LHS and ask for GS Racing part # GSMA15

"High Strength J Type Silicone Exhaust Coupler Small, for .12- .15 engines, 1 pc./ pkg. $4.99"

At first I was confused by the .12-.15 thing but then I remembered we aren't using this thing for the exhaust

THE thing i don't get about K&N I love it in my real truck and i paid like 42.00 for it, I can't justify spending that for my savage and its like 1/32 or something the size, I'm sure they work great it does in my real car, but give me an 18.00 motorsaver and replacement foam for 1.99 and i can buy alot of foam for with the extra 22.00

it sure does make the engine breath a lot more cause of the added lenght of the J coupler it almost acts as a cold air intake.....

the j coupler is too long i would get one meant for an air filter the longer it is the less power you have.
i race 1/8 scale buggies and no one uses moter savers. everybody that is winning is using an RB.

I just used the one it came with and bought a hose clamp to keep it positioned off to the side. This way it can't rub on the spur of the pipe. Works fine for me.

not true at all.....it is true to a certain point but not for the J coupler on the savage ....we are talking J coupler for the savage here not j couplers for buggys...anyway the j coupler does it jobs very well on my rigs and i have the proof of it....its true that if too long it can hurt your power to the point where your engine will just bog down.... but not with the GS J coupler.....they are just the right lenght and provide more air to go thru your carb giving you more power....

The one I use on my savage is PART#GSCMA21BL THIS IS FOR A BLUE ONE......
