Default Not getting full power to the wheels

Something is not right with the monster gt it has a mach427 motor on it. I don't know what is going on with it but it is not get all the power to the wheels. It sounds like something is grinding or not make the contact that it needs. It is moving but still sounds like the gears are not making full contact with each other. It is not moving full speed the motor is ripping but it will not go very fast something is not right. PLEASE HELP

Really?? wwwoooowwww.

A video.

Take the transmission out and take it apart. Simple as that. Look for any worn teeth and replace them as necessary.

lol... but yeah, something in the drive line is binding I would guess.. pull motor and see if the drive train will turn over easy, if so, put motor back and and gap the mesh with the paper trick if you're not good at setting the gap by hand.. if the drive train doesn't turn over easily with the motor out, you're going to have to hunt the binding down.. take the wheels off first, then go through all the drive train parts section by section..

Peelin_out had some good suggestions. I would start with checking the front/rear differentials. The ring and pinion gears may be partially stripped. Usually when you hear grinding, and you don't have normal acceleration, it's because the pinion or ring gear is missing some teeth.

Is it really necessary to make other people feel like idiots because they don't know certain words? Really?

First, start by inspecting the two-speed gears. Not the little ones, but the big (plastic? or are they metal on the MGT?) ones. You should be able to see if they're worn down to nubs. If the gears are worn down it'll be obvious.

If the gears are worn down you need to replace them and then re-set the gear mesh. There are many ways to do this - just find one that works for you.

If the gears are not worn down, you should go next and check the slipper clutch (picture [link=http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/8536/associatedmonstergt460s.jpg]here[/link]). If that's worn out, you need to replace it.

Lastly, check your differentials. Lift the truck up off the ground and turn each wheel individually. If you turn, say, the front left wheel, the front right wheel should turn in the opposite direction. The back wheels may or may not turn in along with the front ones. It really depends on the type of differential.

The last possible solution is to check your clutch. The clutch is housed inside of the clutch BELL. The clutch bell is attached to the end of the motor and has the small pinion gears on it. It looks like [link=http://graphics.hobbypeople.net/gallery/149797.jpg]this[/link].

the first thing i would check is the forward /reverse lever, then the clutchbell since its not the original motor, 2nd would be the slipper clutch, then if that all checks out then the transmission and then the diffs. the differentials are easy to test , hold one wheel and try turning the other if it feels smooth then its probably ok, the tranny is pretty easy too , after checking front and rear axles for smoothness by hand roll the truck on the ground by hand with everything turned off and push it . just like a tonka truck hold on to it while pushing it , if it sounds crunchy then something isisnt right in the tranny ,you would need to take it apart , if its the mgt it has some plastic reverse gears that get chewed up if it gets slammed in reverse while going forward. good luck

CHECK YOUR BRAKE. THATS WHAT IT SOUNDS LIKE TO ME, IT MIGHT BE BINDING THE TRANNY ,ALSO CHECK CLUTCH.
