Savage X is fine for bashing.... the differentials are weak though. There are aftermarket differentials though that are much tougher. Even the Savage X SS kit differentials are better.
other than that, savage is an average truck. Quality and attention to detail is nothing like traxxas, however the engine is much more fun than the wimpy and temperamental trx 3.3.
Buy one! You won't be dispointed!

I have friends with traxxas vehicles and they never last half as long as others at the bmx track near me. UNTIL they have added everything Rpm or aluminum.
I'm not saying the others don't break. Just nowhere near as much as traxxas

If you like replacing broken parts then Do Not Buy a Savage. IE the savage doesnt brake any parts, so you wont be able to do what you really like to do. Replace Broken parts.

i looked at the mini mgt, the diffs are plastic, i cant get parts, i'ev heard they are hard to tune, and i heard they aren' that durable. idk looks like a good truck. maybe i've read wrong.

RE: why should i not buy a savage X?
I have a MGT 8.0 and I love it! I have broken the rear bumper support and the rear body post but thats it. People say they aren't durable. But I have done some big jumps(10-15ft up 5-10yrds out) with bad landings and it is still going so whatever. It doesn't flip as fast as my savys or aftershock but I know it can be tuned better and get more performance, which would get me faster flips. The stock a-arms have lasted longer then the aftershocks so far, but it is a heavier truck. But I did get RPM arms to put on when they start breaking.
The MGT 4.6 I had I broke an a-arm during break-in and sheared the bolts to the front bumper which bent the steering links.[:@]
But I wrote that off as a freak thing because it never happened again. I put RPM arms on that one too and never broke those either.

I've heard the mini mgt was not worth it. Engine is hard to tune, and too many plastic parts that break. But I don't have one.... just what I heard.

RE: why should i not buy a savage X?
the losi ten T would be graet, but it is way out of my price range. not sure i can get parts. i can get parts for most traxxas trucks at the lhs that is farther away. the closer lhs is like the size of a kitchen (maybe smaller) only carries parts for the t-maxx, revo and savage. i don;t want a revo because the are expensive and more of a racer.
Thanks

I don't know I'm loving my lst2 right now, burned out on some dirt into the side of my house wide open damage one cracked brick on the house and NO DAMAGE TO THE TRUCK[X(] you know that's just bad*** right there! Also parts are readily available on Ebay for cheap that's if you ever need them so IMO I would pickup a used lst2 and throw some upgrades at it then you will have a bullet proof basher!

Also an all aluminum double deck chassis really makes for a solid truck just ask the house it can vouch for that!
