RE: My $27 Et-Maxx !
this is my first setups lol
and started out here
I got this truck freefrom a good friend and I Cant use Nitro here
but i do like the truck ALOT so i am maken a few changes to it ....
i took the old motor mount out of my now dead Mad truck and used a traxxas 550 12T
motor and re adjusted the STOCK transmissition for a faster shift to second gear.
i will use 2 12T 550 motors on it as soon as i can get all the parts and the 2 xl5 ESC's
and the t-maxx has all RPM upgraded parts on it .
as it is in these pictures it looks like $#^! but its just in the first phase of the rebuild the "Test Mode"
this is how the body was when i got it
then i Repainted the body and rims
i added some lights

I Need MORE light!
i think its time to add the lights to the rollbar
Think ill add 9 more thats 3 in eatch
then backup lights and Brake lights.

These are NOT JAP , Radioshack or Ebay led's
the Led's are out of $300 mine helmet lights output 5 watt eatch that is equal to a 15 watt halogen eatch.
so that would be like a total 90watts of pure white light
i still need to do the roll bar lights that will be 3 in eatch housing for 45watt or equal to a 135 watt halogen total or 225watt TOTAL truck lighting wattage .
nite running is AWSOME!!!!!
then the change into this
my Home made motor mount
the motor mount and a battery box
this was after a GOOD test run

RE: My $27 Et-Maxx !
then i did my steering mod
Traxxas Steering SUX !!!!
i did a mod to my steering so i dont need to buy a 40+ dollar servo just to steer the thing.
cause my steering servo went for a meltdown bigtime.
Now i can use a cheeper high speed metal gear servo.
on all the traxxas rc's that i have had the steering was poor and why it is this way because of the leverage is WAY to low .
all you need to do is to extend the leverage and you will not need 50lbs of force to steer with.
and with ALOT less stress on the servo.
now it turns ALOT sharper than with the old 208g servo and the speed is fine.
now i can over steer and flip the truck over verry easy ......
my steering mod here :

the extention i put on the servo will flex as it is NOT HARD plastic!
Acting as a "servosaver"
thats why it was not made of steel.

RE: My $27 Et-Maxx !
Note !!!
but
yes i built this truck yes to show just what can be done.
but to show you Dont need to spend Mega dollars to do it like most would have you think you would need to invest to do it.
like
like a $250+ brushless system
a new $45+ tranny
motor mounts that dont work on a T-maxx tranny.
$160+ set of shocks
$120 set of tires
$150 set of rims
like i was told Over and Over a single 550 motor would NEVER work in this truck.
and 7.2v Ni-MH would not "cut it"
well i dont like to be told "you cant" do something so i Did it.
and it works Quite fine.
and im proud of what i can and did do with NO money well i now have about $40 invested in it now
and by all the Short videos i have posted you can see thay were verry wrong.
its to show you can have fun with VERRY little or No money.
PS
and i in NO WAY think or Feel that this truck is better or is the best truck on line.

RE: My $27 Et-Maxx !
There's a good reason your set-up works. This is usually the way it is: with a close to stock gear ratio.
1 motor will not hold up at all with 2 packs.
1 pack will work just fine with 2 motors.
1 motor and 1 pack works fine (even better)

i run 7.2v or 8.4v
and i do run 2 packs but thay are in parallel.
for upto 10000mAh
good long runtimes upto 45 minutes or more depending on what im doing with it.
its cool i got a friend that has a traxxas rustler and he dumps about 2 packs to my 1 when i use a single pack
when i have twins in it he dumps 3 packs to my twins and i still have About 3 to 5 minutes to go.

RE: My $27 Et-Maxx !
Looks like fun to play with. I used to have a t-maxx that I did something similar to that with. I never took the time to set mine up very good though because i didnt want to spend any $$ on it.
You can 100% have fun with that truck. It looks like a lot of fun to drive. Its just that a brushless truck of the same size on 14+ volts will have a lot more power for certain situations, or speed runs. That truck moves very good for just 7.2 volts, and a single 550 motor though. I think the 2 speed in the transmission makes all the difference. I think it would help even more if you put a forward only conversion in it.

RE: My $27 Et-Maxx !
Because it gets rid of the centrifugal clutches in the transmission that allows the spur gear to spin until the motor is turning enough RPM to engage them. Plus, it also removes rotating weight that is robbing some power.

in forward or reverse .
I removed the safetylip off the clutch drum with a dermel but keeping the engagement pins so this can be done.

but yes the mass is still there but i dont stress it as the foc will not make that Large of a change for what i do with it.
Plus i NEED my Reverse............

I hope you have fun building yours i know i did.
if ya want some info just let me know.
